27% Improved Fuel Economy, Approximately 30% Reduction in CO2 Emissions

The new Mercedes-Benz CL 63 AMG is the first to feature the new direct-injection 5.5-liter V8 twin-turbo engine developed by AMG. It boasts a maximum output of 544ps at 5500rpm and a peak torque of 81.6kgm between 2000-4500rpm, representing an increase of 19ps and 17.4kgm respectively over the previous model. Beyond sheer power, this new model is also characterized by enhanced environmental performance, achieved through the adoption of features such as piezo injectors and AMG's first-ever start-stop system.

The transmission is the 7-speed, two-pedal manual "AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT-7." Combined with the new engine, this setup delivers a 0-100km/h acceleration of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h (electronically limited). Remarkably, fuel economy is said to be improved by 27%, with CO2 emissions reduced by approximately 30%.

Scheduled for European Release in September

Furthermore, AMG offers the "AMG Performance Package" for users seeking even higher performance. Through dedicated tuning, such as increasing the turbo boost pressure from 1.0 to 1.3 bar, maximum output reaches 571ps at 5500rpm, with a peak torque of 91.8kgm between 2500-3750rpm. The AMG Performance Package specification achieves a staggering 0-100km/h acceleration of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 300km/h (electronically limited).

A coupe with performance rivaling that of a supercar. Its appearance is also made more imposing through the installation of a dedicated bumper, alloy wheels, and exhaust system.

The CL63 AMG is scheduled for release in Europe in September, with a price of 191,450 euros (approximately
21.63 million yen).

BRAND HISTORY
When tracing the history of automobiles, two German figures emerge as pioneers: Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz. It is common knowledge that these two men independently created gasoline-powered automobiles between 1885 and 1886, laying the foundation for the automotive society. Their respective companies, once viewed as rivals, joined forces to overcome the post-World War I recession, leading to the establishment of Daimler-Benz AG through a merger in 1926.

The name "Mercedes," given to the products, originated when Emil Jellinek, a customer of Daimler's, requested that his eldest daughter's name be used in exchange for undertaking sales outside of Germany. The trademark was registered by Daimler-Benz in 1902.

Thus born, Mercedes and subsequently Mercedes-Benz have consistently led the way in automotive development, actively introducing cutting-edge technologies such as the safety passenger cell, airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), and Night View.
