However, its performance has certainly evolved, with a maximum output of 525 ps, an increase of 11 ps from the current model, and a maximum torque of 64.3 kg-m. Despite this, environmental performance has also been improved, with fuel efficiency approximately 12% better than the previous model. While measured by European standards, it achieves a fuel consumption of 12.6 liters per 100 km, or about 7.9 km/liter.

The transmission paired with this high-performance engine is the "AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT-7," inherited from the current model. The MCT-7's characteristic is its reduction of gear-shifting time lag, resulting in a more direct acceleration feel. By selecting one of four modes according to the driving situation, you can enjoy a more stress-free and enjoyable drive.

Furthermore, equipped with AMG's cutting-edge electronics technology, this latest model undoubtedly allows for the enjoyment of world-class driving with comfort and safety.

Daimler has announced that the release will be "sequentially introduced to markets worldwide from August 2009 onwards." We eagerly await its introduction to the Japanese market.

BRAND HISTORY
When tracing the history of automobiles, two German pioneers emerge: Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz. It is by now common knowledge that these two men independently created gasoline-powered automobiles between 1885 and 1886, laying the foundation for our automotive society. Their respective companies were at times rivals, but to overcome the post-World War I recession, they joined forces, and the Daimler-Benz company was established through their merger in 1926.

The name "Mercedes" given to the products originated when Emil Jellinek, a customer of Daimler's, had his eldest daughter's name used for the brand in exchange for taking over sales outside of Germany. It was registered as a trademark by Daimler in 1902.

Thus born, Mercedes, and subsequently Mercedes-Benz, has continued to lead the way in automotive development by actively introducing the latest technologies such as the safety passenger cell, airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), and Night View.
