Performance That Stirs Even Sports Cars

Mercedes-BenzAs the flagship saloon and a benchmark for luxury saloons, the "S-Class" has always led the era. The current model debuted at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show and was introduced to Japan in the same year.

The "S65 AMG LONG" and "S63 AMG LONG" are these long-wheelbase models, further enhanced by AMG, which handles Mercedes' motorsport activities and high-performance models.

The S65 AMG LONG, unveiled at the 2006 Detroit Motor Show, is the pinnacle of AMG models, powered by a 6-liter V12 twin-turbo engine. Its output of 612ps and maximum torque of 1000Nm deliver exhilarating performance befitting its status, with a 0-100km/h acceleration of 4.4 seconds that will make sports cars tremble.
Meanwhile, the S63 AMG LONG, which made its debut at the Paris Salon that same year, houses a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine developed from the ground up by AMG, with assembly entrusted to AMG's master craftsmen. This proud power unit, boasting 525ps and 630Nm of torque, offers a different kind of allure to the driver than the S65 AMG, thanks to its sharp response unique to naturally aspirated engines and its lighter weight compared to the V12.

The suspension uses coil springs instead of air suspension, combined with ABC (Active Body Control) that has undergone dedicated tuning for optimal control. While the exterior is fitted with a dedicated aero kit, the premium interior and comfortable ride befitting a flagship are not compromised.

BRAND HISTORY
When tracing the history of automobiles, we arrive at two Germans, Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz, as pioneers. It goes without saying that these two men independently created gasoline-powered automobiles between 1885 and 1886, laying the foundation for the automotive society. Although their respective automotive companies were rivals at times, they joined forces to overcome the post-World War I recession, and Daimler-Benz AG was established through their merger in 1926.

The name "Mercedes," given to the products, originated when Emil Jellinek, a customer of Daimler's, named the cars after his eldest daughter in exchange for taking over overseas sales. It was registered as a trademark by Daimler in 1902.

Thus born, Mercedes, and subsequently Mercedes-Benz, has continued to lead the way in automotive development by actively introducing the latest technologies such as the safety passenger cell, airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), and Night View.
