The Most Powerful Powertrain in NA History
According to Aston Martin, the engine is a dedicated 7.3-liter V12 gasoline engine for the One-77. Despite being naturally aspirated, its most striking feature is its powerful performance, delivering a maximum output of 750 ps and a peak torque of 76.5 kgm. Incidentally, the car's powertrain is said to be the most powerful in the history of commercially available NA vehicles.
The price of the One-77 is 1 million pounds (approximately 132 million yen). While it is said to be in the final stages of development testing, all 77 limited units have reportedly been sold out.
BRAND HISTORY
Currently drawing global attention as the coolest sports car brand, Aston Martin of Britain stands out. Founded in 1914 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, this small company came to bear the Aston Martin name after achieving success in a hill climb competition known as Aston Clinton, and has since left a brilliant mark on the history of motorsport and sports cars.
Conversely, the company has faced numerous financial crises, each time receiving a helping hand, charting a truly turbulent course. For example, David Brown, who became owner in 1947, left his name on the sports car "DB2" and the racing machine "DBR1" by leveraging his excellent management skills and engineering acumen. More recently, Ford's sale of its shares to an investment group led by David Richards, founder of Prodrive, is still fresh in memory.
However, Aston Martin has consistently pursued the creation of sports cars imbued with surging power and beautiful styling throughout every era. The current lineup has expanded to include the "V8 Vantage," "DB9," and the four-door saloon "Rapide."
