Design Revealed for the "Rapid" Sports Sedan

Development is reportedly underway for the Aston Martin full-size sports sedan, the "Rapid," as a 2010 model.
While this model was expected to make its official debut at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, computer-generated exterior images have been released ahead of time.

What can be gleaned from these computer graphics is the adoption of a glass roof and a dramatic fastback tail style. In addition, the powerful swell of the rear fenders and the shape of the taillights, which closely resemble those of the DB series, clearly indicate that this model is a member of the Aston Martin family. Furthermore, the "Rapid" will share its base chassis with the DB series.
The Aston Martin "Rapid" is being developed amidst global economic turmoil. We eagerly await the arrival of this car, a potential rival to the Porsche Panamera and Mercedes S-Class.
BRAND HISTORY
Currently, the British marque Aston Martin is drawing global attention as the coolest sports car brand. Founded in 1914 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, this small company came to bear the Aston Martin name after achieving success in a hill climb event called Aston Clinton, and has since left a brilliant mark on the history of motorsport and sports cars.
Conversely, the company has faced numerous financial crises, each time receiving a helping hand, charting a truly tumultuous course. For instance, David Brown, who became owner in 1947, left his name on the sports car "DB2" and the racing machine "DBR1" by leveraging his excellent management skills and engineering acumen. More recently, Ford's sale of its stake to an investment group led by Prodrive founder David Richards is still fresh in memory.
However, Aston Martin has consistently pursued the creation of sports cars imbued with potent power and exquisite style throughout its history. The current lineup includes the "V8 Vantage" and "DB9." Additionally, a new flagship model, the "DBS," which will succeed the "Vanquish," is expected to make its debut in Japan in the near future.
