The third-generation M-Class, set to debut at this autumn's Frankfurt Motor Show, has already been revealed. As a crossover produced in North America, the M-Class is an ambitious model that marks a new direction for Mercedes. The exterior design of this third generation maintains an instantly recognizable M-Class identity. The front grille design, the muscular, powerful side profile, and the taillight design all echo the current model, while the vehicle rides on 17- to 21-inch alloy wheels.

While the exterior design maintains a similar concept, the interior has been significantly improved. Notably, the quality of materials used has been elevated, and the design is more conscious of aesthetics. The dashboard is said to draw inspiration from the S-Class, with a wide range of wood trim color options available. Key features highlighted include a wider center console, aluminum accents, an upgraded COMAND system, and an optional panoramic sunroof.

Three engine options will be available at launch. The entry-level ML 250 Bluetec is equipped with a 2.1-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, producing a maximum output of 150 kW (204 hp) and a peak torque of 500 Nm (50.6 kgm). The more powerful ML 350 Bluetec features a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine, delivering 190 kW (258 hp) and 619 Nm (62.7 kgm) of torque, achieving 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 224 km/h. The third option is the gasoline-powered ML 350 BlueEFFICIENCY, which uses a newly developed 3.5-liter V6 engine generating 225 kW (306 hp) and 370 Nm (37.5 kgm) of torque, with a top speed of 235 km/h, slightly slower than the 350 Bluetec. All models are paired with the 7-speed automatic transmission, 7G-Tronic Plus, and feature all-wheel drive.

For handling, all models come standard with selective damping suspension. Optional features include AIRMATIC semi-active air suspension and an active curve system with dynamic roll stabilization. Additionally, optional driver assistance systems are available, such as Night View Plus with pedestrian recognition, Speed Limit Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and Active Park Assist.
