An Homage to a 1950s Model
At the 2015 Rolls-Royce World Dealer Conference held in Los Angeles on May 12th local time, Rolls-Royce announced that the name of its fourth new model would be "Dawn," with a launch planned for the first quarter of 2016.
Rolls-Royce celebrated its 110th anniversary last year, 2014. After a long and winding history, the brand began its reconstruction under the BMW Group in 2003. The flagship model that debuted that year,Phantommarked the beginning of the Phantom family, which includes thePhantom Drophead CoupéandPhantom Coupé, followed by the luxury saloon "Ghost" in 2009, and the sporty two-door coupé "Wraith" in 2013. In 2016, the fourth lineup, "Dawn," will be added.
Regarding Rolls-Royce's new models, the recently announced test vehicle for the crossover modelcrossover modelis still fresh in our minds, but this Dawn is a different proposition, designed as an open-top model to bring excitement to everyday life.
The model name "Dawn," meaning the beginning of a new day, is derived from the "Silver Dawn," which was manufactured from 1949. Among these, the drophead coupé body produced between 1950 and 1954 is a rare model, with only 28 units made.
What was revealed this time is not the new model itself, but the 1952 Silver Dawn. We anticipate the arrival of a new Rolls-Royce that pays homage to this classic.
