Simple Yet Profound: The Warm Water Habit You Can Start Today

Ayurveda also defines warm water as essential. Many people know that warm water is good for health but may not know its specific benefits! Today, we'll discuss the effects of warm water and the best times to drink it!

Text by TANIOKU Eri

When I began studying Ayurveda, I discovered the true charm of warm water! I used to think it was just generally good for the body, but as I researched, I found that there's an entire book dedicated to warm water, revealing its abundant appeal!

It can aid in weight loss, relieve constipation, clear up blemishes, and more. Beyond the physical, it revitalizes the mind, boosting happiness, reducing stress, and improving concentration.
The notion that warm water is beneficial for the body is said to originate from Ayurveda, the traditional Indian system of medicine. According to Ayurveda, the human body is composed of three energies: fire, water, and wind.

The balance of these three energies varies from person to person; some may have an excess of water, while others may have a stronger fire element. Warm water is believed to restore balance to these fluctuating energies. This is because warm water is made by boiling 'water' with 'fire,' creating 'bubbles (wind),' thus incorporating all three elements and compensating for any deficiencies.

The most recommended time to drink warm water is first thing in the morning upon waking. Warming the stomach and intestines, which have cooled down overnight, enhances digestive function. This leads to various health and beauty benefits, such as improved bowel movements, better nutrient absorption from food, and clearer skin.
Since I started drinking it every morning, my long-standing constipation has improved, my skin condition has gotten better, and by making time to slowly drink warm water, I've been able to start my day at a more relaxed pace, rather than rushing through my mornings.
It's a health practice you can start right away, so if you're interested, please give it a try!
