The Different Company, a perfume brand founded in 1999 by Jean-Claude Ellena, who has created fragrances for numerous major brands including Bulgari, Frédéric Malle, Van Cleef & Arpels, L'Artisan Parfumeur, Yves Saint Laurent, Cartier, Acqua di Parma, Lalique, and Giorgio Armani.

In 2000, three fragrances were released, followed by a fourth, "Bergamote," in 2004, and in 2005, "Jasmin de Nuit," the first scent by his daughter Céline.
Jean-Claude Ellena has been actively engaged, serving as Hermès' exclusive perfumer since 2004.
For example, "Parfum d'Été & Fleur Eau de Toilette Spray" uses two white flowers with contrasting imagery—the pure neroli and the alluring tuberose—to create a scent where purity and sensuality coexist, luxuriously incorporating as much as 5% neroli essence.

"Sublime Balkiss," the tenth fragrance for The Different Company and the sixth by Céline, is her very first chypre fragrance of her career.
It is a modern chypre—structured with citrus top notes and a woody base of oakmoss—yet it also evokes the impression of a classic chypre fragrance.
Each ingredient tells its own story, such as the Egyptian violet leaf essence, considered of the highest quality, Bulgarian Damask rose, and the heath leaves native to the Scottish moors.
