Hiromi Kobayashi Guides You! Spring 2008 Beauty Trends (3)
Personal Edition: "My Own Beauty Trends"
The organic trend naturally extends to food. It's safe and delicious, with the appeal of knowing where it comes from. For beauty and health, consistency is key. That's why we're focusing on "organic drinks" that easily provide natural nutrients.

Delicious to drink, and versatile as a seasoning!
Ginger, known for improving circulation and boosting metabolism, is an essential ingredient for beauty and health. These days, there are many ginger products available, so it's a shame not to use them. My recommendation is "Yoshihei Tosa no Awase Shoga" from Yoshihei Shoten. I stumbled upon it when I visited Kochi, tried it, and found it incredibly delicious. I became hooked and have been buying it online ever since.
I usually dilute it with hot water, but when I feel cold, I add it to black tea, which has warming properties. It's also a fantastic seasoning! It enhances the flavor of anything I add it to, so at home, I use it instead of mirin. Naturally, pork ginger stir-fry made with it is exceptionally delicious.

Tosa Awase Shoga", and Murahoufu's "Mame no Chikara Cha Karada Bijin" (all personal items)
And then there's Kishu plum juice, another must-have. It's 100% organic, of course. When diluted with hot water, the tartness and warmth make you break into a sweat in no time. The citric acid revitalizes the skin, preventing colds and keeping skin from becoming sluggish with the changing seasons.
As everyone knows, the citric acid in plums is good for the body. It's said that one pickled plum can work wonders. In fact, I've heard that many presidents of major corporations consume them daily.
Absorb essential nutrients, eliminate waste
Warm tea offers a double benefit: nourishment and relaxation. My current top recommendation is bean tea, rich in soy isoflavones. "Mame no Chikara Cha Karada Bijin" from Murahoufu is caffeine-free, so it's perfect even after a bath at night. I often drink it when I'm tired of herbal teas. It's made with 100% domestic soybeans, and produced by certified eco-farmers, so it's safe. I always aim to incorporate foods like this naturally into my diet.
I also drink detox tea regularly. It helps eliminate waste and boost metabolism, leaving the body feeling refreshed and the skin looking clearer. Since I started drinking detox tea, I no longer suffer from morning facial puffiness. Poor metabolism can lead to various health issues, so it's important to address it promptly, but drastic measures are hard to maintain. Tea, on the other hand, can easily become a habit. My favorite is the detox tea from Agronatura. I highly recommend giving it a try.
To enhance your beauty, start from within. When you have a healthy body with good metabolism, cosmetics will be most effective.

A New Ally for Dieting: "Power Pop Candy"
You often see photos of celebrities holding lollipop-style candies in overseas tabloids. These are "Power Pop Candies," diet candies that have recently gained popularity in Japan as well.

Flavors include green apple and others. "Power Pop Candy" (personal item)
Its key ingredient is a herb called "Hoodia." After drinking water, you slowly lick the candy, then drink more water. It expands dozens of times in your stomach. And it's only 28 calories per piece. If you lick one before a meal, you'll feel full, significantly reducing your calorie intake.
Diet candy might sound artificial, but this candy's color is natural, and it's packed with vitamins and minerals. There are over ten flavors, and it's great that a bag contains a good mix. In my circle, several people have successfully incorporated this candy into their diet programs. I'm curious to see how popular it will become in Japan.
