The Appeal of Oil Beauty for Inner Health and Radiance (Part 1)

Approaching Seven Beauty Points

The Allure of Oil Beauty: Cultivating Health and Radiance from Within (1)

Launched last autumn from "Bi-Fine Laboratory," led by Hiromi Kobayashi, the SEVEN FLOW series is a natural skincare brand that supports the creation of healthy, radiant skin from within.
Its flagship item, an oil infused with herbs, blends beautifully with the skin and offers a light, non-greasy feel, steadily winning over not only oil aficionados but also those new to oil-based skincare.
Ms. Hiromi herself says, "We created this brand because we wanted to convey the appeal of oil beauty." Judging by the enthusiastic response, her message has certainly resonated. If so, we too are eager to learn about its charms.
Over the next four installments, we will delve into what sparked her passion for oil beauty and the meticulous details she poured into the SEVEN FLOW series.

Blend the oil while massaging to improve bodily circulation

Last autumn, we launched our new original brand, the SEVEN FLOW series, following NILIYA. This series focuses on the blood and lymph that supply oxygen and nutrients to our cells, aiming to create a body that flows freely by improving circulation. Currently, it features three items: the "Herb Circulate Oil," a beauty oil concentrated with herbs; "Marble Mousse," a gentle facial cleanser; and "Venus Patting," a special spoon-shaped beauty device.

The brand name, SEVEN FLOW, is derived from seven key areas of the body crucial for care: "ankles, backs of knees, groin, abdomen, armpits, collarbones, and behind the ears." To achieve healthy, radiant skin from within, total body care is essential. By applying oil to these seven points, where lymph concentrates, and massaging it in, we can improve the body's circulation.

Venus Patting is a beauty device developed for "spoon patting," a skincare technique that boosts skin metabolism. Marble Mousse is a gommage cleanser that removes excess dead skin cells and waste from the skin's surface. Each has a distinct purpose and can certainly be used independently, but within the SEVEN FLOW series, they play a supporting role.
They are positioned as items that enhance the effects of the star product, Herb Circulate Oil: the spoon is used to stimulate the skin after applying oil, further improving lymph flow, while the gommage gently removes excess keratin and enhances oil penetration while providing moisture.

In Europe, where oil beauty is popular, many women with beautiful skin have their own "my oils." They might say, "You like that oil, but I prefer this one," or "I must have an oil with osmanthus flowers." Each has her favorite, which she carries in a small bottle for use anytime, anywhere. If her hands feel dry, she quickly applies it; if she feels puffy, she gently dabs it behind her ears. Oil beauty is naturally integrated into their daily lives.

It's truly wonderful. That's why, when developing these products, we initially planned to create an original "my oil" once we sourced a high-quality oil. And what we created is this Herb Circulate Oil. We want many people to discover the appeal of oil beauty. The SEVEN FLOW series is filled with this aspiration.

How I, Who Once Disliked Oil, Discovered the Joys of Oil Beauty

The reason I want to share the appeal of oil beauty is that many people mistakenly believe oil is synonymous with greasiness. I myself struggled with acne when I was younger and was initially hesitant about using oils.

My awakening to oil beauty dates back over a decade.

In my late twenties, I used to get a lot of sun and was always quite tanned. Then, I was busy with raising my children, and skincare took a backseat. Naturally, my skin was constantly in poor condition. I neglected it so much that by the time I was 32, it all caught up with me, leaving my skin in a truly terrible state. I didn't want to see anyone, and my mood became increasingly inward-looking. Eventually, my physical health also declined, and I finally realized I couldn't go on like this. That's when I reluctantly decided to take action.

I tried all sorts of beauty treatments. Most were self-taught, but I must have tried nearly 200 different methods. Among them, oil gave me the most promising results.

At that time, I was working for the Scandinavian National Tourist Board and frequently traveled to Nordic countries. As I visited repeatedly, I naturally made friends there. One of them was a woman who had been chosen as Miss Universe Sweden. She was quite famous locally. As Miss Universe, her beauty was naturally striking. But what captivated me wasn't just her features; it was her skin. It wasn't just fair; it seemed to radiate an aura, as if it glowed from within. I was so mesmerized the first time I met her. I thought, 'Wow, she's incredible. Her skin is something else!'

I immediately asked her what kind of skincare routine she followed to achieve such beautiful skin. She told me she used oil. Back then, oils weren't common in Japan, and the only image I had was of baby oil, so it didn't quite click. When I asked for more details, she explained it was a beauty oil packed with plant extracts, and her favorite was from Decléor. On her recommendation, I tried it, and it was wonderful! Despite being an oil, it wasn't sticky and left my skin feeling soft. That was the first time I learned the term "oil beauty."

It May Seem Indirect, But It's Actually the Fastest Route

She further explained, "For example, if you have a dark spot on your face that you're worried about. In Japan, people tend to focus intensely on treating the spot itself, right? We do things differently. We apply oil to our ankles."

Why? The reason made perfect sense. Our bodies have 'waste bins' where toxins accumulate, and we need to empty them first. Once they are empty, waste products can naturally flow out and be expelled... In other words, the ankles are a concentration of lymph, and improving the flow there benefits the entire body's circulation.

We often hear stories of people feeling unwell for unknown reasons, and their condition improving after their entire spine, from the cervical vertebrae down, was straightened through Eastern medicine. If the spine is unstable or misaligned, nerves can become compressed, diets fail, and even the mind can become unwell. But like a tree, if the trunk is strong, the extremities will function well. Ultimately, fundamental treatment is essential.

The seven points for applying SEVEN FLOW oil – "ankles, backs of knees, groin, abdomen, armpits, collarbones, and behind the ears" – are based on this principle. You might think, 'I want to improve my face, so why would I apply oil to my ankles?' But please, try it first.

You'll find that your body's circulation improves, tension eases, you sleep better, and you become more positive. You'll experience a variety of synergistic effects, and as a result, your skin condition will also improve.

It may seem like a roundabout approach, but it's actually a case of "more haste, less speed" – ultimately, it's the fastest route. This is what my Swedish friend taught me over a decade ago.
