A Countach Model with a Grand "Engine," Limited to 8 Pieces Worldwide!
ROGER DUBUIS has partnered with Lamborghini's motorsport division, Squadra Corse, to unveil the new "Excalibur Spider Countach DT/X" watch, inspired by the Countach. It will be produced in a limited edition of just 8 pieces worldwide.
A Unique Design Inspired by Legacy
The legendary "Countach," which continues to ignite passion half a century after its debut, serves as the inspiration for ROGER DUBUIS's new watch, the "Excalibur Spider Countach DT/X." This timepiece draws from the new Countach, produced in a limited run of 112 units to commemorate its 50th anniversary.
The caliber is named "RD112," referencing the 112 limited units of the new Countach, and it boasts performance as exceptional as its namesake engine.
The "DT" in "Excalibur Spider Countach DT/X" stands for Double Tourbillon, while the "X" represents words like Excessive, Exceptional, Exciting, and Extravagant – key elements of ROGER DUBUIS's universe.
As the name suggests, this timepiece features a movement unparalleled in the world of hyper horology. To ensure utmost precision, two tourbillons are precisely inclined at a 90-degree angle to each other, compensating for gravitational effects not only horizontally but also vertically.
Furthermore, a differential gear train acts like a scale, absorbing the differences in movement between the two oscillators, much like a car's differential adapts to the wheels' movement on the road.
By crafting the tourbillon carriages from lightweight titanium, the energy required for rotation is conserved, resulting in a 60-hour power reserve. These intricate mechanisms are meticulously hand-finished by skilled Geneva watchmakers and have earned the "Poinçon de Genève" (Geneva Seal), a mark of excellence awarded only to high-quality watch brands based in Geneva with a history dating back to 1886.
The design inherits the distinctive aesthetic of the Countach, pushing boundaries once again. Iconic elements like the periscopic roof and NACA air intakes are seamlessly integrated into the watch's design.
The instantly recognizable clean, sharp lines and hexagonal shapes are incorporated into the watch's design in various forms. The hexagonal structure forming the Countach's three rear light clusters is echoed beside the "engine" of the inclined double flying tourbillons.
The red and black interior pattern of the Countach is reflected in the engravings on the inner side of the watch, parts of the crystal, and the interior of the strap.
The case is crafted from ROGER DUBUIS's proprietary high-tech material, Mineral Composite Fiber (MCF), which is 2.5 times more resistant than ceramic and 13% lighter than SMC carbon. The color faithfully reproduces Bianco Siderale White, a pearlescent shade specified by Ferruccio Lamborghini himself for his personal Countach.
The "Excalibur Spider Countach DT/X" concentrates ROGER DUBUIS's technical prowess, inspired by Lamborghini's legacy. It is a bold and rare timepiece, with only 8 pieces produced worldwide.
