A New Face for Timepieces, Driven by an Integrated Movement

Since its establishment in 1995, Roger Dubuis has championed "Hyper Horology," a philosophy that breaks existing conventions in haute horlogerie. All calibers, manufactured in a fully integrated manufacture, pursue peak performance and excellence.
Among these, the chronograph holds a special place for Roger Dubuis, the maison's founder. He dedicated the first nine years of his career to developing chronograph movements at a long-established Swiss watchmaker, and this expertise culminated in the establishment of the maison in 1995.
The new Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph showcases the maison's advanced technical prowess and originality. The newly developed RD780 caliber is an integrated movement that combines timekeeping and measurement functions, enabling bold designs previously impossible with conventional chronographs.
The column wheel at 6 o'clock is milled from stainless steel using intricate machining and boasts a beautiful luster with its poli-zinc finish. This advanced finishing technique is typically reserved for uniquely shaped components. The column wheel plays a crucial role in enhancing the tactile feel of the pushers and precisely controlling the chronograph's start, stop, and reset functions.
The vertical clutch system employs a mechanism similar to a car's transmission, ensuring performance that is both traditional and contemporary.
The 120-degree rotating minute counter (RMC) at 3 o'clock features an eye-catching, patented triple-hand system with an isotoxal design. It displays the numbers 0, 1, and 2, while the right side shows digits 0 through 9 in a large, easily readable format. When the chronograph is active, the RMC performs a captivating dance, bringing dynamism to the timepiece.
At 9 o'clock, the balance wheel, tilted at a 12-degree angle, creates a distinctive presence. This angle optimizes visibility and achieves an inertia level comparable to a tourbillon. The diamond-coated silicon escapement wheel ensures high precision with its excellent magnetic resistance.
The mechanism is housed within a 45mm case crafted from 18K pink gold. The skeletonized construction allows for a full appreciation of the internal mechanics' beauty. The multi-layered dial features a symmetrical design, with its rich surface textures and geometric patterns created by varying heights enhancing the piece's sophistication.
The rotor, positioned on the case back, adopts a five-arm design reminiscent of a supercar's wheel rim, expressing a deep connection to motorsport. This element serves as a strong signature of the maison's design.
All 333 components undergo 16 different finishing techniques, ensuring a power reserve of 72 hours. The attainment of the Geneva Seal, a mark of the highest quality, attests to the maison's technical skill and uncompromising commitment to quality.
The warm tone of the pink gold contrasts strikingly with the deep black rubber strap, which can be easily exchanged thanks to the quick-release system.
Derived from Roger Dubuis' lucky number, production is limited to just 88 pieces. This number is also engraved on the tachymeter scale, telling a story embedded in the design.
The Excalibur Spider Flyback Chronograph is the perfect timepiece for those who forge their own path, elegantly embracing an active lifestyle.
