ROGER DUBUIS
A Rocket Ship and Spider Adorn Three Celestial Bodies, Expressing a Grand Cosmic Journey
ROGER DUBUIS has released the new "Excalibur Dr. Woo Monobalancier," a collaboration with tattoo artist Dr. Woo, limited to 28 pieces worldwide. This watch features the bold yet delicate designs of both artists, whose inspirations transcend the world and expand infinitely like space.
Captivated by the Delicate and Beautiful Cosmos Unfolding on Your Wrist
ROGER DUBUIS consistently pursues the subversion of traditional watchmaking norms, leading into a new contemporary era. Similarly, Dr. Woo possesses exceptional skill in the art world and commands respect within the urban culture scene.
For this second collaboration, they have adopted the "Excalibur Monobalancier" announced in 2022 as the base model. Dr. Woo has entrusted his inspirations to the complex ceramic surface, expressing the passage of time amidst the forces of the sun, earth, and moon.
This watch features three celestial bodies as its protagonists. The sun is depicted between 10 and 11 o'clock, meticulously laser-engraved on a PVD-treated black brass plate. Between 4 and 5 o'clock, the earth is depicted on a disc that rotates 3.6 times a day, cleverly linked to the rotation of the watch hands. Furthermore, a slender crescent moon is drawn at the 8 o'clock position, adorned with fine circles and lines, beautifully accentuating the internal structure of the balance wheel beneath it.
When the wearer moves their wrist, the playful mechanism spins rapidly as if by magic, and the fantastical spectacle, reminiscent of gazing at the night sky, is sure to captivate anyone for hours.
Moreover, Dr. Woo's signature spiders and 3D-sculpted rocket ships make a return from the previous work, symbolizing a cosmic journey exploring new galaxies beyond the initial collaboration.
The "Excalibur Dr. Woo Monobalancier" has a case size of 42mm and is crafted from black ceramic. ROGER DUBUIS's ceramic, resistant to daily scratches and resistant to discoloration over time, is a masterpiece that perfectly fuses durability and style.
The ceramic case is engraved with Dr. Woo's iconic language. From sharp triangles that seem to spring from the ground to perfect circles representing the infinite connections between people, his enigmatic pictograms encircle the bezel and flange. This array of geometric symbols, which invites free interpretation and sparks curiosity in each wearer, is also imprinted on the calfskin leather strap.
Furthermore, it is equipped with the self-winding Caliber RD720SQ, renowned for its high performance. This meticulously finished movement offers a 72-hour power reserve, with all components hand-finished.
Produced in a limited edition of only 28 pieces worldwide, the "Excalibur Dr. Woo Monobalancier" is a highly collectible and unique collaboration. It is a delicate and beautiful watch that invites its wearer on a cosmic journey of infinite possibilities.
