A Collaboration Watch with Timex Arrives to Commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Popular Game "Pac-Man"

Timex has released the "Timex 80 × PAC-MAN Watch," a collaboration model with the globally popular Japanese video game "Pac-Man," which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2020. It will be available at On Time Shibuya Loft, On Time Umeda Loft, the official Timex online store, and the official On Time Move online store.

Features Pac-Man Graphics and Game Sounds

The "Timex 80 × PAC-MAN Watch" is a collaboration timepiece that was first released in the U.S. in November 2019, generating considerable buzz. In 2020, marking the 40th anniversary of "Pac-Man," it became available in Japan, the game's birthplace, at select retail stores and online.

Upon its release in 1980, "Pac-Man" captivated audiences worldwide with its simple, universally understood gameplay and charming characters. Within months, it achieved massive success in the U.S., sparking a global "Pac-Man craze." Simultaneously, in the 1980s, Timex, already a leading watch brand in America, began producing cutting-edge digital watches for international distribution.

This collaboration watch uses the "Timex 80" as its base model, an adaptation of the popular retro 80s "Classic Digital" (commonly known as "Kaku-Deji"), aligning with "Pac-Man's" 1980 debut. Characters are engraved not only around the LCD but also on the case back and bracelet clasp.

Furthermore, it features a special alarm sound using "Pac-Man" game audio. In terms of functionality, it includes essential features for daily use such as an alarm, stopwatch, calendar, and Timex's proprietary Indiglo® night-light, which illuminates the entire watch face, first developed in 1992.

To commemorate the launch of the "Timex T80 × PAC-MAN Watch," pop-up stores have opened at On Time Shibuya Loft and On Time Umeda Loft. Customers who purchase the watch will receive an original Pac-Man sticker (available while supplies last). Additionally, visitors can experience the nostalgic "Pac-Man" game within the stores during the event period.
