A Model Reflecting Breitling's Heritage and a Clear Vision for the Future
The Chronomat holds a significant place in Breitling's history. In 1984, the year this model was introduced, ultra-thin quartz watches were at their peak. Breitling took a bold gamble by launching an exceptionally striking mechanical watch. The result was a success, and the Chronomat became an icon of its era. Now, nearly 40 years later, the redesigned Chronomat is poised to captivate a modern generation defined by purpose, drive, and individual style.
The new Breitling Chronomat is a versatile sports watch suitable for both formal and private occasions. Its instantly recognizable features evoke the classic model of the same name, which has been in production since 1984. The distinctive butterfly clasp Rouleaux bracelet, along with the rotating bezel with rider tabs, embodies Breitling's retro-modern aesthetic.
1980s Advertising Visual
In 1984, when the watch market was dominated by quartz movements and mechanical watches had all but disappeared, the arrival of Breitling's Chronomat was welcomed as a revival of Swiss mechanical watchmaking. It underscored the brand's established global reputation for mechanical chronographs returning to their rightful place. The Chronomat was recognized as a sporty-chic model, and the chronograph once again became an emblem of cool aesthetics and confidence.
The distinctive rotating bezel is highlighted by rider tabs. These not only protect the crystal but also make the bezel easier to operate. The rider tabs at 3 and 9 o'clock are interchangeable, allowing for both "count-up" and "count-down" functions, just like the original specification.
The movement is Breitling's in-house Caliber 01, boasting a power reserve of approximately 70 hours. Like all Breitling watches, it is a COSC-certified chronometer, ensuring precision, and offers water resistance to 200 meters.
For enthusiasts seeking a touch of luxury, the Chronomat B01 42 features a crown and pushers in 18K red gold, along with 18K red gold rider tabs, numerals, and indices. This precious model combines a silver dial with tone-on-tone sub-dials, an stainless steel case, and an stainless steel Rouleaux bracelet with a butterfly clasp.
Another beautiful two-tone Chronomat features an elegant blue dial with matching chronograph counters, or an anthracite dial with contrasting black chronograph counters. It is distinguished by an 18K red gold ratcheted unidirectional rotating bezel, and 18K red gold crown and pushers. This model is fitted with a Rouleaux bracelet with a butterfly clasp, combining stainless steel and 18K red gold riveted links.
Furthermore, there are models that enhance the luxury with an 18K red gold case, as well as special editions for Japan. We encourage you to explore the diverse expressions of the new Chronomat.
