A Limited Edition Model Showing Solidarity with Healthcare Workers Fighting the Coronavirus
In April 2020, amidst the pandemic and lockdowns, Breitling's new "Superocean Heritage ‘57 Limited Edition," first announced globally via an online summit webcast, garnered significant attention.
Inspired by the watch's rainbow design, symbolizing hope and optimism, which was well-received by viewers, Breitling has released a second edition with a blue dial, the "Superocean Heritage ‘57 Limited Edition II," in a limited run of 1,000 pieces.
A portion of the proceeds from this model will be donated to support healthcare workers on the front lines in countries severely affected by the coronavirus. Furthermore,
www.breitling.comthe first 100 units sold on will each have 1,000 Swiss francs donated to charity, bringing Breitling's total donation to 500,000 Swiss francs.
These donations will be equally divided among six charitable organizations in countries most affected by the pandemic.
The rainbow is widely recognized as a symbol of solidarity with the UK's NHS (National Health Service) and healthcare professionals. The rainbow-inspired design elements express a connection to symbols of support for frontline healthcare workers worldwide.
This model features a 42mm stainless steel case and a bidirectional rotating bezel with a ultra-hard ceramic blue bezel ring and a blue dial. Notably, the colorful markings at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions on the dial serve as design accents.
The indices and hour and minute hands are coated with Super-LumiNova® in a rainbow gradient of yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, red, and orange. The strap or bracelet can be chosen from a vintage-style gold brown leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet.
For those seeking to add more color, consider purchasing an Outerknown ECONYL® yarn NATO strap separately? Six types are available: blue with dark blue stripes and lining, light blue with dark blue stripes and lining, yellow with orange stripes and lining, gray with black stripes and lining, red with black stripes and lining, and green with black stripes and lining.
This model is limited to 1,000 pieces, with "ONE OF 1000" engraved on the case back. It is a pure and colorful tribute to the healthcare professionals confronting the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic. Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling, stated, "We were amazed by the popularity of the 'Superocean Heritage ‘57 Limited Edition II.' Given its success, we thought we could do something for the healthcare professionals who are showing incredible dedication. Many are working with utmost devotion. We wanted to show how much attention we pay to them by creating a new version with our signature rainbow."
Furthermore, Breitling announced that it would be donating a "Superocean Heritage ‘57 Limited Edition" to a Charitybuzz auction in June. Charitybuzz is an online auction site that offers unique gifts and experiences to support noble causes. Bidders for this model will have the opportunity to participate in a digital live chat with Breitling Surfers Squad member and arguably the greatest surfer of all time, Kelly Slater. The auction proceeds will be donated to Direct Relief, a US-based charity.
In addition to these initiatives, Breitling is providing support to charities and organizations fighting the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide. In France, it supports the "Fondation de France," a charitable network that funds healthcare worker research projects and assists local social workers and vulnerable individuals. In Italy, it has made donations to the Humanitas hospital group, which is responsible for patient care and the urgent task of finding a COVID-19 cure.
In Japan, donations have been made to the National Center for Global Health and Medicine, an agency dedicated to the treatment and research of infectious diseases like COVID-19. In Spain, a portion of the sales revenue from the "Superocean Heritage ‘57" is donated to the Ministry of Health to meet the needs of medical facilities, such as purchasing protective medical equipment.
