An Elegant Presence with an Exquisite Complication

A new model featuring the rattrapante chronograph, a complication requiring exceptional skill, has joined A. Lange & Söhne's "1815" family. This timepiece is powered by a proprietary movement developed with a focus on the rattrapante mechanism. It is presented in a new platinum case and will be produced in a limited edition of 200 pieces.
The "1815 Rattrapante" is equipped with two superimposed timing hands: the chronograph seconds hand and the rattrapante seconds hand. Pressing the pusher at 2 o'clock starts both hands simultaneously. The rattrapante seconds hand can be stopped independently of the chronograph seconds hand and then synchronized again with it. This process can be repeated any number of times, making it ideal for measuring lap times, for example.
The case is crafted from platinum, lending it an air of refined elegance. The deep blue hands stand out vividly against the bright silver-colored dial, enhancing legibility. The railway-track minute markers and large Arabic numerals are traditional design elements of A. Lange & Söhne, characteristic of the brand's historical pocket watches. These continue to be featured on the dials of the "1815" family, named after the birth year of founder Ferdinand Adolph Lange.
This movement, the seventh rattrapante chronograph caliber developed and manufactured in-house by Lange, was previously featured in the limited edition "1815 Rattrapante Honeygold "Homage to F. A. Lange"" of 100 pieces, created to commemorate A. Lange & Söhne's 175th anniversary in 2020. It boasts special decorative finishing executed with masterful craftsmanship.
The caliber, assembled using a meticulous hand-finishing technique known as "double assembly," reflects the tradition inherited from Ferdinand Adolph Lange. It showcases not only structural excellence but also the distinctive aesthetic elements characteristic of A. Lange & Söhne. Following the example of F. A. Lange's pocket watches, which were renowned for their highest quality class designated "1A," the L101.2 caliber features untreated German silver bridges and balance cocks, screw-mounted gold chatons for securing the jewels, and a hand-engraved balance cock. The fusion of these traditional elements with the skills of contemporary watchmakers results in a comprehensive work of art: a precision mechanical timepiece.
