HUAWEI Launches Two New Smartwatches, the HUAWEI WATCH 3, Supporting Body Surface Temperature Measurement

HUAWEI is set to release the latest additions to its smartwatch line, the HUAWEI WATCH 3, in Sport and Classic models this August 2021. These high-end smartwatches build upon existing health monitoring technologies like heart rate, sleep, stress level, and blood oxygen level tracking, and introduce new features such as body surface temperature measurement and fall detection.

A smartwatch with new technology for more accessible health management.
The HUAWEI WATCH 3 is a high-end smartwatch equipped with advanced health management technologies, including body surface temperature measurement, fall detection, and handwashing detection, powered by its array of built-in sensors. Naturally, it also offers the same heart rate, sleep, stress level, and blood oxygen level monitoring as previous models.
The body surface temperature measurement function detects skin temperature from the wrist. Additionally, multiple sensors recognize daily handwashing, automatically tracking the motion and duration, and providing a notification after 20 seconds. These features help users stay aware of their body's changes and encourage proactive self-care.
In the event of a fall while wearing the watch, it automatically switches to emergency mode, offering the option to contact emergency services or a designated contact. If no activity is detected for a set period, an alert is sent to registered contacts. While contacting emergency services requires user action, emergency mode can also be activated by pressing the 'up' button five times.
Blood oxygen levels are continuously monitored while worn. If the level drops below a pre-set threshold, the watch vibrates and sends an alert. Furthermore, HUAWEI TruSleep™ detects four distinct sleep stages—deep, light, REM, and naps—identifies six major sleep issues, and provides over 200 types of sleep-related advice. HUAWEI TruRelax™ stress monitoring logs daily stress levels and guides users through breathing exercises to promote relaxation when stress is high.
The display features beautiful 3D curved glass with a nano-coating to resist scratches and fingerprints. The case is crafted from cold-forged 316L stainless steel with PVD coating, offering excellent resistance to scratches and corrosion. Hand-polished to a mirror finish, it achieves a lustrous sheen comparable to luxury timepieces. The back uses high-tech ceramic material with nano-zirconia powder, providing a warm touch, a smooth, skin-friendly feel, and enabling more accurate heart rate monitoring.
A new rotating crown, befitting its classic aesthetic, has been added. In addition to touch controls, users can navigate the interface by rotating the crown. With 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM, and a dual chipset, it optimizes power consumption while delivering high performance based on usage. The battery lasts approximately 14 days in ultra-long battery life mode and about 3 days in smartwatch mode. It also supports wireless charging, including reverse charging from compatible smartphones.
Its fitness tracking capabilities are also robust, featuring 17 professional sports modes for indoor and outdoor activities, and 85 custom workout modes. Six workout types, including outdoor running and walking, are automatically detected. With built-in GPS, users can track their running and walking routes via the HUAWEI Health app on their smartphone.
