A Watch of Flair, Telling Time with Rotating Cubes Every Hour

[EDITOR’S EYE]

A precious version of Spin Time, where 12 rotating cubes serve as hour markers.
The grayish texture of meteorite and titanium, combined with the luster of pink gold, creates a surprisingly smart yet understated impression.

Louis Vuitton has added the "Tambour Spin Time Meteorite" to its collection of watches powered by the Spin Time movement, first released in 2009, featuring a dial made from the rare material, meteorite.

Expressing the Passage of Time with Novel Materials and High-Performance Technology

The "Tambour Spin Time Meteorite" is a watch where 12 rotating cubes indicate the time, serving as hour markers. Of the cubes surrounding the dial, 11 are adorned with various motifs inspired by Louis Vuitton's iconic luggage, rendered in gray, while one specific cube displays the hour in Arabic numerals, a novel structure.
This is a unique concept that adds a playful touch to technical innovation, where "surfaces tell time." The mechanics, boasting top-tier technology, are powered by the LV77 caliber, offering a 40-hour power reserve.
This model features a new case size of 41mm. Additionally, the new design of the rotating cubes is captivating. These cubes juxtapose two different materials. The hue of titanium, treated with black PVD, enhances the brilliance of the pink gold case, a color contrast that evokes elegant and sophisticated architecture.
In this piece, the dial, carved from Gibeon meteorite discovered in Namibia, also demands attention. Louis Vuitton has, for the first time, incorporated this mysterious material, literally from another world, into a watch. Due to the brittle and easily fragmented nature of Gibeon meteorite, its use requires highly advanced techniques, with even the most skilled artisans needing over two days to complete a single dial. The "Tambour Spin Time Meteorite" is a rare watch that expresses the passage of time through its unique and imaginative mechanical display.
