The new "Odysseus" model, manufactured under an unprecedented concept while embodying the philosophy of A. Lange & Söhne, has been released. Equipped with a self-winding movement featuring an outsize date and day display developed exclusively for this watch, it is the first standard model to adopt a water-resistant stainless steel case, making it suitable for an active lifestyle.

A. Lange & Söhne's new "Odysseus" is a watch that combines dynamism and grace, created for those who love exquisite timepieces yet lead active lives. A. Lange & Söhne currently offers five product families—Lange 1, Saxonia, 1815, Richard Lange, and Zeitwerk—and now, the Odysseus joins as a sixth family.

In keeping with Lange's tradition, a new movement was also developed for this family. The new Calibre L155.1 DATOMATIC signifies the combination of a date mechanism and an automatic winding system. Through the sapphire crystal see-through case back, one can admire the 32.9 mm diameter movement that occupies the interior of the case.

The mainspring barrel can store a power reserve of 50 hours when fully wound. It ensures stable timekeeping even when subjected to external vibrations or shocks, running at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). Furthermore, the newly designed balance wheel is fitted with four precisely recessed regulating screws, flush with the outer edge of the balance wheel. This construction suppresses turbulence and minimizes air resistance even at high frequencies. Combined with the proprietary free-sprung balance spring, this enhances the stability of the rate and the energy efficiency of the movement.

Another notable feature is the adoption of a stainless steel case for the first time in a standard model. The water-resistant case, equipped with a screw-down crown and case back, has a three-dimensional design with a slight protrusion in the center. The brushed surface of the case reveals sharply defined chamfered edges. The brushed finish and chamfering are also applied to each lug and link of the stainless steel bracelet, creating harmony between the case and the bracelet.

The folding clasp of the stainless steel bracelet incorporates a safety mechanism and a function for adjusting the length by up to 7 mm. By operating the button engraved with "A. LANGE & SÖHNE," the bracelet can be extended or retracted, eliminating the need to unbuckle it for length adjustment and ensuring a comfortable fit on the wrist.

On the striking dark blue dial, the date and day displays are prominent. The familiar two-window Lange outsize date is positioned on the right, while a day display of the same size is placed on the left, facing it. The vertical edges of the gently curved frame harmonize with the bezel's curve.

The dial is composed of multiple layers with different surface finishes. The background of the vertically grooved white gold bar-type applied indices and the small seconds track feature concentric circles, reminiscent of the grooves on a record—a decorative pattern known as *azurage*. In contrast to the *azurage*, the main dial and the inner part of the sub-dial have a matte finish.

A silver-colored ring, sloping upwards towards the outside, is printed with minute markers, with the number 60 in red at the 12 o'clock position serving as an accent. The distinctive Lange-style hour and minute hands are more prominent than on other A. Lange & Söhne watches and are luminous, similar to the surface of the grooves in the bar indices.
