Reproducing the Good Old Aviation Taste. "Aviator 8 B01 Chronograph 43 Mosquito" | BREITLING
BREITLING
An Homage to Britain's Aircraft from the Golden Age of Aviation.
Breitling has unveiled the "Aviator 8 B01 Chronograph 43 Mosquito," a model honoring the de Havilland Mosquito, a British aircraft renowned as the fastest during World War II.
The "Aviator 8 B01 Chronograph 43 Mosquito" Honors the Legendary de Havilland Aircraft.
Breitling's new "Aviator 8 B01 Chronograph 43 Mosquito" reimagines the onboard instruments designed by the Huit Aviation department in the 1930s and '40s, along with the striking aesthetics of the Ref. 765 AVI, known as the Co-Pilot. It features a rotating bezel and large Arabic numerals, popular among pilots, brought into the modern era.
Concurrently, the "Aviator 8 B01 Chronograph 43 Mosquito" pays tribute to the de Havilland Mosquito, a British aircraft whose structure was largely built from wood to achieve remarkable lightness. This aircraft achieved astonishing feats in speed and maneuverability, serving a wide array of missions including unarmed light bomber, day fighter, night fighter, and photo reconnaissance.
Breitling CEO Georges Kern commented, "The de Havilland Mosquito is a truly unique and iconic aircraft in aviation history. It stood out for its incredibly innovative design and ingenious use of materials. The 'Aviator 8 B01 Chronograph 43 Mosquito' evokes a nostalgic remembrance of a true success story in aviation."
The "Aviator 8 B01 Chronograph 43 Mosquito" is equipped with a 43mm stainless steel case and a satin-finished black ADLC-coated stainless steel bezel. This bezel features a practical red-tipped pointer, indices, and Arabic numerals, while the dial presents silver subdials that contrast with the black background. The bezel undergoes an ADLC treatment, resulting in a darker hue than the DLC coating that has long characterized Breitling. This shade is black, contrasting with the anthracite shade of standard DLC, evoking the night flights of the de Havilland Mosquito.
The striking orange hour, minute, and chronograph hands are coated with Super-LumiNova® luminous material, ensuring easy readability even in low light. The impressive red and orange accents recall the roundels and markings on the de Havilland Mosquito aircraft, further enhancing the model's appeal.
The transparent sapphire crystal case back offers a view of Breitling's in-house Caliber 01 movement, boasting approximately 70 hours of power reserve. The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters. It is available with either a pin buckle or a folding clasp, paired with a brown vintage leather strap.
