Expressing the Essence of Ginza, a District Symbolizing Tradition and Innovation
To commemorate Seiko's 140th anniversary, Seiko Watch Corporation will release four limited-edition models on October 8 (Friday), each expressing the history and charm of its founding location, Ginza, through iconic colors and patterns.
Based on Four Seiko Watch Brands
Ginza, a unique district rich in pioneering spirit, respects tradition while embracing innovation. Perhaps in resonance with its charm, the commemorative models are based on four renowned Seiko brands that embody both tradition and innovation. While each brand showcases its individuality, the colors and patterns symbolizing Ginza are masterfully incorporated.
The second hand features "Konparu-iro," a soft blue with a greenish hue that was one of the most fashionable colors around the late Meiji era. The dial is adorned with the cobblestone pattern of Ginza Street, Japan's first Western-style street, evoking the modern ambiance of Ginza at the time. The blue-gray dial color is said to represent the modernity of the contemporary buildings and architecture that adorn the streets of Ginza.
Since its founding in 1881, Seiko has developed numerous innovative products under the creed of its founder, Kintaro Hattori, "Always one step ahead of the times," contributing to the development of time and watch culture and industry. Taking its 140th anniversary as a milestone, this limited collection reflects Seiko's ongoing commitment to challenges, paralleled with the ever-changing charm of Ginza.
"Seiko Prospex" is a sports watch brand that meets the demands of outdoor activities such as diving and trekking, earning high praise and trust from professional divers and adventurers worldwide for its authentic functionality.
This model is based on the "Seiko Alpinist" released in 1959, re-engineered with a modern design and finished in a comfortable 38mm size. The Ginza street cobblestone pattern on the dial exhibits a glossy, radial change, accented by the Konparu-iro second hand. The inclusion of a mechanical movement, offering up to approximately 70 hours of power reserve, is a practical feature that allows for continued use on Monday even if not worn over the weekend.

This model is based on the "Crown Chronograph" released in 1964 and is part of the "Style60's" design series that recreates Seiko's vintage style. The Konparu-iro second hand and the glossy cobblestone pattern of Ginza Street on the dial evoke the classic charm of mechanical watches, with the retro luster of the box-shaped glass and the sharp brilliance of the three-dimensional indices. The skeletonized window at the 9 o'clock position, revealing the heartbeat of the mechanical movement, is particularly striking.
