A Collaboration Watch and Motorcycle in "Ice Blue," Sharing the Histories of Breitling and Triumph
Breitling has released the "Top Time Triumph," a collaborative watch with Triumph, the British motorcycle brand. Triumph, in turn, is launching the "Speed Twin Breitling Limited Edition" motorcycle, with only 270 units available. A special offer will also be extended to purchasers of the "Top Time Triumph" Owner's Edition, which will be engraved with the individual motorcycle's serial number.
The "Top Time Triumph": Embracing the Free-Spirited 1960s
Inspired by the cafe racers of the 1960s, the new "Top Time Triumph" collaboration between the Top Time watch and the Speed Twin has been unveiled.
In the mid-1960s, motorcycle racing was at its peak, giving rise to a subculture known as "cafe racers," where riders, astride stylish motorcycles, would literally cruise from one chic cafe to another. Willy Breitling captured that era's exhilarating style by introducing the "Top Time," a completely new and unconventional chronograph for "young, active professionals." The model quickly captivated both men and women who favored a sporty aesthetic, thanks to its bold proportions.
Now, in 2022, the "Top Time Triumph" is born from a spectacular collaboration between Breitling's "Top Time" and the British motorcycle brand Triumph, reviving the free-spirited essence of the 1960s cafe racer.
Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling, stated, "Triumph's heritage and its modern retro aesthetic are among the many shared values between our brands. Their blend of tradition and technology perfectly aligns with what we do."
To mark the debut of this collaboration, Breitling has crafted the "Top Time Triumph" with a distinctive satin finish and a bowtie-inspired dial, known among Top Time collectors as the "Zorro dial." Meanwhile, Triumph is releasing the "Speed Twin Breitling Limited Edition" motorcycle in a limited run of 270 units. The motorcycle features Öhlins piggyback twin-suspension, and its speed and RPM meters are inspired by the dial design of the "Top Time Triumph." Buyers of the motorcycle will also have the opportunity to purchase a special Owner's Edition of the "Top Time Triumph," featuring a sunray dial and a case back engraved with the motorcycle's individual number.
Both models showcase a striking ice-blue dial. This distinctive color echoes the blue of the 1951 Triumph Thunderbird 6T and the rare blue-dialed Breitling "Top Time" (Reference 815) from the 1970s.
On the "Top Time Triumph" dial, Breitling and Triumph logos are placed at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions. Oversized mushroom pushers allow for easy operation of the chronograph's stop, start, and reset functions, complemented by a high-contrast tachymeter scale for clear speed readings. The movement is the COSC-certified Breitling Caliber 23, offering approximately 48 hours of power reserve. Another standout feature is the detailed sketch of Triumph's parallel-twin engine engraved on the case back, a must-have for collectors.
Regarding this creation, Nick Bloor, CEO of Triumph, commented, "This collaboration stems from a shared bold and inventive design philosophy at both companies. The 'Top Time Triumph' is a fusion of uncompromising style and craftsmanship." The 41mm case, like the original, is designed for wear by anyone, regardless of gender. It is an unmissable model for fans of the Triumph brand and those drawn to the Speed Twin Breitling limited edition motorcycle.
