TISSOT | Tissot

The long-awaited automatic model arrives for the "Tissot PRX," a reinterpretation of the late '70s original.

Since its founding in 1853, Tissot has established itself as a watchmaker loved worldwide, guided by the motto "INNOVATORS BY TRADITION." From its extensive library, three highly anticipated automatic models have been released, reinterpreting the original 1978 "Tissot PRX." A Timeless Style Defined by Solid Texture and a Slim, Integrated Design

Following the February 2021 release of the "Tissot PRX Quartz," a reinterpretation of the 1978 original, the "Tissot PRX Automatic" has now been launched. Responding to the growing demand for an automatic model, this new release embodies the chic and cool atmosphere of the late 1970s.
Equipped with the high-precision Powermatic 80 automatic movement, featuring an extended 80-hour power reserve and high magnetic resistance, this model boasts a dial with an embossed checker pattern. The slim design and expressive dial combine to create a sophisticated retro feel.
The exterior evokes the bright, glamorous trends of the late 1970s. Its defining characteristic is the slim, solid design. The tonneau-shaped case, with a thickness of just 10.93mm, features a smooth, finely polished bezel that accentuates its gentle, beautiful lines. The interplay of polished chamfers and vertical satin finishes on the bezel adds a soft touch to its solid texture.
The dial features applied indices. By using metal bar indices and components rather than flat decals, the dial gains depth, presence, and a cohesive identity as part of the collection. The date window at 3 o'clock further enhances the watch's aesthetic appeal.
The "Powermatic 80" inscription at the bottom of the dial signifies Tissot's proprietary movement. This Swiss-made caliber is equipped with a Nivachron™ balance spring, made from an alloy offering superior magnetic resistance. It maintains high accuracy even in today's environment, surrounded by digital devices, and offers the practicality of an 80-hour power reserve.
The watch boasts a seamless design, with the bracelet flowing smoothly from the lugless case into wide, single-link construction. This flexible and dynamic bracelet forms an elegant line on the wrist when worn, offering both comfort and a refined feel.
The "Tissot PRX Automatic" captures the cool, vibrant spirit of the late 1970s, a time when mainstream concepts were undergoing significant change. Yet, through Tissot's exceptional design prowess, it exudes a timeless presence.
