The Lake Baikal Limited Edition, A Limited Watch Supporting Water Conservation Projects | ORIS
ORIS
From Oris, a brand committed to environmental conservation, comes the "Lake Baikal Limited Edition," a timepiece in ice blue, released in a limited run of 1,999 pieces worldwide.
The "Lake Baikal Limited Edition," a limited watch based on Oris's Aquis dive watch collection, will be released starting February 2020. A portion of the profits from the sale of this watch will be used to support water conservation projects in Siberia's Lake Baikal.
A Limited Dive Watch in Ice-Blue Hues
Oris has championed the mission of pursuing positive change and has been engaged in environmental conservation activities since 2010. While the brand has previously released limited models supporting marine conservation, 2020 marks the announcement of the "Lake Baikal Limited Edition" in partnership with the Baikal Foundation.
Located in Siberia, the world's largest freshwater lake, Lake Baikal, accounts for approximately 20 percent of the world's freshwater and is the deepest lake at 1,642 meters. It is the largest source of life in Siberia and a natural habitat for thousands of species of flora and fauna, yet it faces serious anthropogenic pollution due to careless industrial activities.
This timepiece is based on Oris's high-performance Aquis dive watch collection, featuring a 43.5mm case with a blue bezel and gradient dial. The case back is adorned with a blue medal evoking imagery of ice. A screw-down crown with a security guard ensures 30 bar water resistance, while the Super-LumiNova® coated indices, hour and minute hands, and lollipop seconds hand provide excellent legibility. The bracelet includes an extension system for adjustable length.
This watch is produced in a limited edition of 1,999 pieces worldwide, commemorating the year Russia adopted the Baikal Law to protect the lake, and is presented in an eco-friendly special paper box. Furthermore, a portion of the proceeds will support the "Point No.1" Lake Baikal conservation project, operated by the Institute of Biology of Irkutsk State University.
