Medieval Animal Art Recreated on the Watch Dial

The Métiers d'Art Savoir-Faire Enluminé collection from Vacheron Constantin, which showcases masterful artistry, comprises three timepieces. Each features one of three animals from the world-renowned medieval manuscript, the Aberdeen Bestiary, dating back approximately 1,000 years.

The "Alcyon" on the left, representing water, is a beautiful seabird. This bird, which nests at sea regardless of weather, is considered a symbol of tranquility. Its blue-green plumage, elegant wings, and soft silhouette perfectly complement the round dial.

The "Vulture" model in the center features two birds depicted back-to-back. Renowned as messengers of the sky, these birds are characterized by their gaze that seems to know all.

The "Capra" model on the right symbolizes the land. It depicts a midnight blue goat with a sharp gaze and keen judgment.

The unique time display, which moves slowly across the dial, was designed and developed by Vacheron Constantin's engineers. It is stimulating, surprising, and subtly poetic, much like the eye following text on a page as time smoothly glides through the mechanism.
