A synchronized airshow by two pilots and wing walkers.
The Breitling Wing Walkers, known for wing walking—where performers ride on the wings of an aircraft—and formation flying with multiple planes, will perform their first-ever flight in Japan at the "Air Base Festival & Friendship Day 2015 Air Show" scheduled for May 3rd at Iwakuni Air Base.
As their name suggests, their activities are supported by Swiss watchmaker Breitling. The brand has a history of actively supporting aviation-related endeavors, including the restoration of historically significant aircraft and the "Orbiter 3," which achieved the first non-stop, unrefueled circumnavigation of the globe by balloon.
The highlight of the Breitling Wing Walkers' performance is the formation flight, where female dancers strike poses like handstands and one-legged stances on the wings of an aircraft, buffeted by winds of approximately 200m/s, while rotating vertically and horizontally. This synchronized, thrilling airshow, created by the pilots of two planes and the performers on the wings, has captivated over 6 million people worldwide annually and is not to be missed.
This year, the "Air Base Festival & Friendship Day 2015" will be held on a grand scale, integrating the base festival by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and the Friendship Day event at the US Naval Air Facility Atsugi. Details of the day's events, including the Breitling Wing Walkers' airshow, will be announced later on the website of the US Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni.
On this occasion, why not experience firsthand the show performed against the backdrop of the vast sky, brought to life by the exceptional skill of the Breitling Wing Walkers?
