Oceanus: Keeping Perfect Time Worldwide

Born in 2004 as a radio-controlled solar-powered watch, "OCEANUS" has fused Casio's cutting-edge technology with elegant design. Now, a decade after its debut, we look back at the journey of "Oceanus," a collection worthy of being called Casio's flagship.

A Decade of Oceanus Development

The first "Oceanus" model, released in 2004, was the "world's first full-metal chronograph radio-controlled solar watch." At the time, achieving a full-metal case for a radio-controlled watch was considered difficult due to antenna reception capabilities. Casio tackled this challenge, incorporating its proprietary light-powered movement to achieve this world-first feat.

The second-generation models, introduced between 2006 and 2007, refined radio wave reception, realizing "Multiband 5" capable of receiving signals from a total of five stations in the US, Europe, and Japan. They also achieved the "world's thinnest chronograph radio-controlled solar watch," further enhancing functionality.

It began with the adoption of the "Tough Movement" in 2008. Innovations like the hybrid mount structure, which improved shock resistance, significantly boosted reliability. Furthermore, the development of "Smart Access," which dramatically enhanced operability, marked significant technological advancements in models up to around 2011.

Models from the latter half of the third generation, appearing from 2012 onwards, built upon the achievements of the first half. They introduced simultaneous display of time in two cities and further enhanced multi-functionality with the unprecedented inclusion of a 6-motor drive.

The "Oceanus OCW-G1000," released this October, is the world's first watch with a full-metal case capable of receiving both radio waves from GPS and radio waves from standard radio wave stations in six locations across five countries. The ability to select between GPS radio waves for rapid time adjustment anywhere in the world and standard radio waves for reliable, low-power reception, choosing the wave that offers the most advantageous conditions for the watch, is a groundbreaking new feature.

Combined with an exceptional world time function, it allows users to know the accurate time from anywhere in the world. This is an essential feature for business professionals who travel globally.

As the years have passed, the full-metal case has evolved into peak sophistication, boasting an exquisite design that fits seamlessly into formal attire. The vibrant Oceanus Blue accenting the periphery of the dial and subdials adds color to the timepiece, showcasing the distinctive character of "Oceanus."

Opening new possibilities for timepieces and demonstrating outstanding perfection, Oceanus is a watch whose continued evolution as Casio's pinnacle analog model promises exciting developments.
