A New Movement Fusing the Watchmaking Expertise of Citizen and La Joux-Perret

Three models of "The Citizen" wristwatch have been announced, featuring the new in-house developed mechanical movement "Cal.0200." This movement is characterized by its free-sprung balance, a feature often found in high-precision mechanical watches. Developed from scratch, this movement achieves an average daily accuracy of -3 to +5 seconds, exceeding the chronometer (automatic wrist chronometer) standard (ISO3159) through precise watchmaking techniques. Furthermore, the escapement utilizes LIGA technology, employing photolithography and electroforming to enhance component precision, leveraging technologies cultivated through the manufacturing of Eco-Drive movements.
These watches undergo rigorous in-house inspections lasting 17 days. A certificate of conformity to our internal standards is included with watches that pass inspections conducted under various conditions, including six positions and three temperature settings, while in their completed state before the bracelet or strap is attached.
In terms of movement design, attention should also be paid to the layout that beautifully showcases the arrangement of gears, and the finishing of components achieved through the decorative techniques cultivated through collaboration with La Joux-Perret, a Swiss company that joined the Citizen Watch Group in 2021. The bridges, finished with a satin-like hairline, feature diamond-cut accents in intricate detail, enhancing the three-dimensional effect created by the contrast of different finishes and elevating the aesthetic appeal of the entire movement.
The exterior design aims for a watch that expresses a forward-looking aesthetic, combining strength and sharpness, with a case shape featuring bold, unadorned surfaces. The coarse hairline and mirror polish on the solid stainless steel material reflect light when worn, exuding a strong presence.
The black dial "NC0200-90E" features a sand-like texture created through electroforming, allowing for subtle tonal variations within its monochrome appearance due to the interplay of light and shadow. The blue dial of the "NC0200-81L" features a sunray pattern with polished lacquer, its glossy finish and deep hue shimmering beautifully.
Both dials feature the "Eagle Mark," the symbol of "The Citizen." This symbol represents an eagle with exceptional eyesight capable of spotting prey from 1000 meters away, symbolizing foresight and the ability to act with vision for the future, as well as its ancient role as a partner to humans. The Eagle Mark is a testament to "The Citizen's" two core concepts: "Always looking ahead and pursuing ideals" and "Accompanying the wearer for a long time."
The limited edition model "NC0200-06A" features a white dial with a nuanced texture achieved through electroforming. Not only the dial, but also the K22 gold rotor visible through the see-through case back is specially engraved with the "Eagle Mark." This is a limited edition of only 55 pieces. By registering with "MY CITIZEN Owner's Club,"https://citizen.jp/support-jp/afterservice/owners.htmla 5-year manufacturer's warranty is provided.
