A New Model Featuring a Refined GMT Mechanism and User-Friendly Specifications

BALL Watch has announced a new model in its Roadmaster collection, which has been fully available in Japan since 2020. Following the successful "Roadmaster Marine GMT," the new "Roadmaster Pilot GMT" is a multi-time model for pilots, featuring an enhanced GMT function and bezels in the popular "Red & Blue" or "Red & Black" colorways.
In the late 19th century, BALL Watch established a high-precision watch inspection system for American railroads, and its current collection lineup features names derived from this railway heritage, such as "Engineer" and "Stokeman." "Roadmaster" refers to a track worker responsible for laying, maintaining, and inspecting railway lines. As its name suggests, this collection, which subtly supports its users, achieved great success with the "Marine GMT" released in 2020.
Born as the second generation of this popular model, the "Roadmaster Pilot GMT" features striking two-tone ceramic top bezels in "Red & Blue," commonly known as "Pepsi," and "Red & Black." While the "Marine GMT" allowed independent adjustment of the skeletonized 24-hour hand, the "Pilot GMT" employs a new mechanism for independent hour hand adjustment, made possible by the integration of a newly developed module.
The method for adjusting the hour hand remains unchanged from previous models, offering excellent convenience. It is operated via two push-buttons located on the left side of the case (a button at 10 o'clock advances the hour by one, and a button at 8 o'clock moves it back). This innovative quick-setting function is a mechanism developed by Mr. Phi Van Tran, head of BALL Watch's R&D department, "Patrick Lab." Each push-button alternates between locked and unlocked states with a slight rotation (1 click = 60° / 6 clicks for one full rotation). This design prevents accidental operation and ensures safety from water and dust ingress. The crown can be pulled out to a maximum of two positions: the first position adjusts the date and day, and the second position adjusts the time.
The exterior adopts the integrated bracelet design, a current trend in watchmaking, offering a stylish look that complements business attire. The case is made of titanium with a diameter of 40mm, the current standard size. In addition to being hard, lightweight, and rust-resistant, the surface features a meticulous satin finish. The bracelet is a combination of titanium and stainless steel, with optimized weight balance for a comfortable fit on the wrist. Furthermore, the sapphire crystal exhibition case back allows a view of the mechanical movement's dynamism.
Other features include 300-meter water resistance, sufficient for daily use, shock resistance (5000Gs), a robust 14mm thick case, anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal for legibility even in bright sunlight, COSC chronometer certification as proof of high precision, and a date display useful during work hours, all designed with user convenience in mind.
Additionally, the watch is equipped with BALL Watch's signature self-powered micro gas tubes on the hands and dial, ensuring smooth time reading in the dark. The ceramic bezel, which rotates in both directions, has its markings coated with luminous Super-LumiNova, making it a multi-time model capable of displaying a third time zone.
