BRESSEL 1665 CHRONOGRAPH

JeanRichard's Own Chronograph with a Unique Counting System
This is the chronograph version of a popular model, equipped with the in-house "JR1030" movement. The "1665" in the model name refers to the birth year of the founder, JeanRichard, while the design of the subdials on the dial is a novel interpretation inspired by aircraft attitude indicators.
The 30-minute and 12-hour totalizers of this chronograph feature a unique ingenuity. Both are designed with double semi-circular scales, where the passage of time is indicated by both ends of the hand. In other words, for the 30-minute totalizer, the first 15 minutes are indicated by the longer side of the hand on the outer scale, and the next 15 minutes are indicated by the shorter side of the hand on the inner scale.
Self-winding. 28,800 vibrations per hour. Case diameter 42.0mm. Stainless steel case. See-through case back. Water resistant to 5 bar. Alligator strap. ¥546,000.
BRAND HISTORY
The founder, Daniel JeanRichard, born in 1665, is known as the "father of the Swiss watch industry." He was originally a blacksmith, and it is said that he taught himself watchmaking, even creating his own tools. He is also credited with many innovative attempts in watch mechanics, including calendar and repeater functions.
He later introduced a system of specialized production in his hometown of Le Locle in the Neuchâtel region. By establishing a complete division of labor among case makers, spring makers, enamelers, and engravers, he dramatically expanded the watch industry in the region. His achievements in transforming the entire Jura Valley into a major watchmaking hub are proudly told by the statue of Daniel JeanRichard at the watchmaking school in Le Locle and the Musée d'horlogerie du Locle.
The current JeanRichard brand was revived in 1994 by Luigi Macaluso, chairman of the Sowind Group. True to its illustrious watchmaker's name, the brand offers an exceptionally wide range of timepieces, from complicated watches such as tourbillons and minute repeaters to three-hand watches with unique designs, divers, and chronographs.
In 2004, the company developed its own movement, the "JR1000." With its workshops in La Chaux-de-Fonds, it operates as one of the few manufactures that handles everything from design to manufacturing, assembly, and finishing in-house, creating timepieces that blend tradition with innovation.
