Daniel Jeanrichard, born in 17th-century Switzerland, is known for laying the foundation of the Swiss watch industry. Though he never established his own brand, his dedication to society is still recounted today among those involved in the watch industry.

The watch brand “JEANRICHARD,” established in 1994 as an homage to him, is now calling for essays under the theme “A Philosophy Of Life: The Pursuit of Self-Indulgence.” The new “Terrascope” watch was developed with the theme “A Philosophy Of Life,” embodying the desire that individuals who practice a life guided by their own philosophy, much like Daniel Jeanrichard, especially young people, should wear a JEANRICHARD as a testament to their way of life.

For the essay competition, with the keyword “A Philosophy Of Life” as the backdrop, and with advice from sociologist Kenshu Furuchi, who is currently gaining attention for works such as “The Happy Youngsters of the Land of Despair,” the theme was decided as: “Assuming you have enough money to live comfortably for the rest of your life, what is it that you truly want to do?” The Japanese title for the essay was set as “The Pursuit of Self-Indulgence.”

The submission period runs until Saturday, August 31. Mr. Furuchi will select the entries, and unique essays will be featured on the JEANRICHARD website. Furthermore, three outstanding works will be chosen in September, and the winners will receive a new watch as a prize.
