1938 Bugatti Wins Best of Show

Established in 1929, the "Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este" is a competition that emphasizes design and elegance. It is one of the world's premier historic car concours, supported by A. Lange & Söhne since last year. This year, a stunning array of classic cars, meticulously maintained down to the finest details, were on display, attracting numerous celebrities to the glamorous event.

Among the many accolades at the "Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este," the "Best of Show" award, decided by the jury, is considered the most prestigious. This year, the winner was fashion designer Ralph Lauren, also known as a prominent collector of vintage cars. He secured the award with his 1938 "Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic Coupé," designed by Jean Bugatti, the eldest son of Bugatti founder Ettore Bugatti.




During the award ceremony, A. Lange & Söhne CEO Wilhelm Schmid presented Ralph Lauren with the unique "Lange 1 Time Zone "Concorso Edition," created exclusively for the winner.

This special timepiece is based on the "Lange 1 Time Zone," featuring a dual time display and an outsize date. The white gold case back is hand-engraved with the Concorso d'Eleganza's emblem, and the rotating bezel bears the name "COMO," honoring the host city as a Central European Standard Time city.
