OMEGA has announced the "Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition" to commemorate the 50th anniversary of humanity's first moon landing. It will be released in the summer of 2019.

Limited to 1014 pieces worldwide, released this summer

Half a century has passed since humanity took its first step on the moon. OMEGA's Speedmaster was worn by Buzz Aldrin, an astronaut on Apollo 11, and has been the choice of astronauts ever since.

The "Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition" follows the design of the 18K yellow gold "Speedmaster BA145.022," produced in a limited run of 1014 pieces in 1969. This was OMEGA's first commemorative model with a serial number and is famously known for being presented to the astronauts at a banquet honoring the heroes of the moon landing in November of that year.

This iteration features an 18K Moonshine™ gold case, inheriting the asymmetrical case design of the fourth-generation Speedmaster, and a bracelet with the same design as in 1969, featuring five arched links in a single row.

To faithfully reproduce this historic timepiece, the bezel ring is crafted from burgundy ceramic, with indices set in black onyx, creating a beautiful harmony with the gold.

The movement is the new manual-winding Master Chronometer (Caliber 3861), visible from the case back. The ring of the case back is engraved with "1969-2019" along with the serial number.

The presentation box is equally unique. The special box features a 3D-printed lunar crater on grey ceramic, designed to represent the "Sea of Tranquility" and the Apollo 11 landing site.

This special limited edition will be released in a worldwide limited run of 1014 pieces, echoing the production number of the original model.
