The "Planet Ocean" is a dive watch that debuted in 2005. It was born from inspiration drawn from the "Seamaster 300" of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Designed to withstand depths of up to 600 meters, its water resistance was double that of the existing "Seamaster Diver 300M," offering innovative capabilities for demanding underwater exploration.

Twenty years since its introduction, this fourth generation sees significant changes in the case and bracelet construction. Reflecting on the history of the Seamaster, OMEGA drew inspiration particularly from models of the 1980s and 90s, resulting in a modern, edgier design with sharp, angular facets.

A major change is the discontinuation of the helium escape valve, a characteristic feature of the collection for two decades, to align with the new design. Structurally, it adopts a two-part construction consisting of a main body and an inner titanium ring. The overall lines are sharper, and the edges are more defined.

The case size remains 42mm, the same as the original model from 2005. However, the thickness has been reduced to 13.79mm, compared to 16.1mm for the standard model of the third generation. The flat sapphire crystal on the front and the refined design of the entire case and bezel contribute to a flatter profile than previous models.

The bracelet has also been redesigned to complement the new case shape. It integrates seamlessly with the case, featuring a structure of flat links. Two rows with a brushed finish are placed on the outer sides, with one row in a polished finish in the center. While respecting the Seamaster's heritage, it offers a slim and comfortable design. It allows for six levels of adjustment and includes OMEGA's proprietary diver extension. The rubber strap is equipped with a folding clasp.

The new models are available in three colors. Notably, the collection's signature orange model features a matte orange dial with lacquered Arabic numerals and a new orange ceramic bezel ring with a diving scale in white hybrid ceramic. Variations include a stainless steel bracelet, a black rubber strap, and an orange rubber strap.

The blue model features matte white lacquered Arabic numerals and a blue ceramic bezel ring with a diving scale in white enamel. It can be chosen with either a stainless steel bracelet or a black rubber strap.

The black model combines rhodium-plated Arabic numerals with a black ceramic bezel ring and a diving scale in white enamel. This version is also available with either a stainless steel bracelet or a black rubber strap.

All new "Planet Ocean" dials are unified in matte black. While iconic elements like the arrow hands and robust hour markers filled with Super-LumiNova are retained, the typography of the Arabic numerals has been updated. The numerals are now open-worked and angular, harmonizing with the sharp impression of the case and bracelet. This serves as an homage to the original "Planet Ocean."

The case back is a screw-in design made of Grade 5 titanium instead of sapphire crystal. This refines the watch's proportions, enhancing both lightness and strength. The case back features a wave-patterned edge, with "PLANET OCEAN" and "SEAMASTER" engravings, water resistance markings, and OMEGA's iconic hippocampus emblem engraved in the center.

The movement is the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8912. This automatic movement boasts a 60-hour power reserve and meets the highest standards of precision, performance, and magnetic resistance certified by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).

Water resistance also meets high-level specifications. Insights gained from the "Planet Ocean Ultra Deep," released in 2019, have been incorporated into this new model. A titanium inner ring is fitted inside the case of all models, ensuring material strength for 600m water resistance. This technical design maintains the same external appearance as the original while fulfilling a functional role for deep-sea use.

Since its debut in 2005, the Planet Ocean has symbolized luxury dive watches, embodying a perfect balance of style and functionality. This fourth generation, while honoring that tradition, marks the beginning of a new chapter, combining modern technology with refined aesthetics.
