Fifteen Times the Original Anti-Magnetic Performance: The New Railmaster Born from Modern Technology

The “Railmaster” first appeared in 1957. In that same year, OMEGA unveiled its “Professional Line” trilogy: the Speedmaster, the Seamaster 300, and the Railmaster.
Each was designed to meet the needs of specific professions—racing drivers, divers, and railway workers, respectively—demonstrating how closely OMEGA aligned itself with the professionals of its time.
Among these, the Railmaster’s standout feature was its exceptional anti-magnetic capability. Thanks to an internal protective casing, it could withstand magnetic fields of up to 1,000 gauss. Considering that typical anti-magnetic watches of the era offered around 60 gauss, this was an extraordinarily high specification. It established itself as a reliable timepiece for professionals working in environments susceptible to magnetic fields, such as railway workers, engineers, and scientists.
Since then, the Railmaster has been reissued numerous times. Variations released particularly after 2003 have garnered enduring popularity among OMEGA fans for their vintage style and designs that pay homage to the professionals they were created for.
The newly released model this time further elevates that tradition into the modern era.
The new Railmaster features a 38mm case size, with two dial colors available. One is a model with a grey dial and black gradation, where the indices and Arabic numerals are transferred with white Super-LumiNova.
Its high legibility and minimalist design are striking, with an unadorned dial featuring only the OMEGA logo and the Railmaster name. The strap can be chosen from black leather or a stainless steel bracelet with a new link design that enhances integration and wearability.
The other model is a version with a beige dial and black gradation. This design inherits the aesthetic of the Railmaster announced in 2004 and features a small seconds sub-dial.
Vintage-style Super-LumiNova is used for the indices, evoking a classical atmosphere. The strap can be selected from gold-brown Nappa leather or a similarly refined stainless steel bracelet.
In both models, the case and bracelet feature polished and brushed finishes, with the contrast between matte and gloss emphasizing the depth of the overall design.
The movement used is OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806 for the standard model, and Calibre 8804 for the model with small seconds. Both boast an astonishing anti-magnetic resistance of 15,000 gauss. This figure is 15 times that of the original Railmaster, and the movements comply with the Master Chronometer standard certified by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).
This new Railmaster has been crafted as a professional timepiece that showcases OMEGA’s heritage, technological innovation, and the evolution of watchmaking.
