The Toughness Watch GMW-B5000 Gets a Chic Makeover with a Reverse LCD

In 2018, 35 years after the debut of the original DW-5000C, the GMW-B5000 series—conceptually evolved in exterior, structure, and module—achieved a full-metal casing and incorporated a Connected engine. Two new models have now been released for this series.

The case and band feature a hairline finish, creating a more luxurious and refined metallic texture. The face is equipped with a reverse LCD, adding to its sophisticated appearance.

The base model, GMW-B5000, re-examines G-SHOCK's core hollow structure. By inserting a fine resin buffer between the metal bezel and the main case, a new shock-resistant structure capable of withstanding a full-metal case was developed. The band attachment points, which receive the most impact, utilize highly shock-resistant TROGAMID®, reducing stress on the band attachment pipes.

A screw-back case is employed, and its case back is treated with a highly wear-resistant DLC coating. Clarity is also a priority, with a film solar cell and an STN-LCD that allows for easy time reading from various angles, ensuring excellent visibility.

The movement features Bluetooth® communication and Multi Band 6, which receives standard radio signals from six stations worldwide. By linking with the dedicated G-SHOCK Connected app, it obtains accurate time information from internet time servers. In areas covered by the six standard radio signals, it automatically corrects the time. Casio's proprietary power-saving Tough Solar technology enables stable operation, while practical features like a high-brightness full-auto LED backlight and world time are also fully integrated.

While maintaining the original concept inherited from the first model, this timepiece pursues quality through refinements in its exterior, structure, and module, embodying toughness.
