To commemorate the 50th anniversary of CASIO's watch business, the "TRN-50," a reissue of the "CASIOTRON QW02"—CASIO's first wristwatch and the world's first digital watch equipped with an auto-calendar function—is here. It will be released on Thursday, February 29, 2024, in a limited edition of 4,000 units worldwide.

Born from the concept that "time is the sum of seconds," the digital watch "CASIOTRON" debuted in 1974, evolving the digital technology cultivated in the calculator business.

It was a groundbreaking model that aimed to be a "fully automatic wristwatch," accurately displaying not only the time but also the month, day, and day of the week. It featured an auto-calendar function that automatically distinguished between months with 30 and 31 days, adjusting the date and eliminating the need for manual corrections.

The "TRN-50" meticulously recreates the design of the original model, adhering to current high-quality standards while maintaining the same size. The case, band, dark blue face, and "CASIOTRON" logo are all faithfully reproduced from the original.

While faithfully reproducing the original design, the "TRN-50" incorporates modern technology, including radio wave reception, Tough Solar charging, reception of standard radio waves from six stations worldwide, and Bluetooth® connectivity for mobile linking. This allows it to obtain accurate time information via a smartphone, automatically updating world time and time zone information. It reflects the original development philosophy with today's technology, also featuring an STN LCD for enhanced visibility.

Like the original model, the case back is engraved with a serial number. The watch comes in a dedicated package made from eco-friendly paper materials, completing its presentation as a contemporary limited edition.

The "TRN-50" inside boasts cutting-edge technology while meticulously pursuing the design and size of the original. Fifty years after its debut, this is a precious model that has been reborn.
