A Watch Gifted to Elvis to Commemorate 75 Million Records Sold
An Omega watch owned by the legendary musician and actor Elvis Presley has sold for approximately ¥165.3 million, the highest price in the brand's history.
The watch sold was a 1961 18K white gold model, presented to Elvis by RCA Records at a charity luncheon and concert held to celebrate his record sales reaching 75 million worldwide in February 1961.
The case back is engraved with "To Elvis, 75 Million Records, RCA Victor, 12-25-60." The bezel is adorned with 44 brilliant-cut diamonds, and the ivory-toned silver dial with a small seconds subdial is powered by a manual-winding Omega Caliber 510.
Photographs of Presley actually wearing the watch exist, and this historically significant timepiece will be added to the Omega Museum Collection in Biel, Switzerland.
