The Overseas Chronograph: A New Blue Dial for the Collection
Vacheron Constantin, one of the three great Swiss watchmakers and known as the world's oldest manufacture, has introduced new timepieces to its Overseas collection. Launched in 1996, the collection is celebrated for its sporty, functional, and contemporary style, standing out even among the brand's elegant offerings.
The Overseas Chronograph Perpetual Calendar combines two highly prized complications among enthusiasts: a chronograph and a perpetual calendar. It retains all the hallmarks of the Overseas collection, including the case's flowing, powerful lines, the bezel, indices, and crown shaped like the maison's iconic Maltese cross, the screw-down push-pieces, and the case back featuring an engraving of the famous three-masted ship of Amerigo Vespucci.
The movement is the Caliber 1136QP, a dynamic concentration of high-end mechanical watchmaking. It features a small seconds subdial at 6 o'clock and the chronograph mechanism, while the perpetual calendar displays a 48-month indication, including the week and leap year.
Two straps are included: one in brown rubber and another in brown alligator. The watch is presented in a luxurious box designed to ensure the perpetual calendar remains wound and accurate even when not in use, thanks to its self-winding rotor.
Meanwhile, the Overseas Chronograph makes its debut with a new look, featuring the collection's first deep blue dial. Its steel bracelet is exceptionally smooth and comfortable to wear, designed to complement a sports watch, with a motif inspired by the half-Maltese cross. The movement is the Caliber 1137, exuding a noble lineage and elegance. It beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour, offers a power reserve of approximately 40 hours, and includes a 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock, a 12-hour counter at 9 o'clock, and a date display in two windows at 12 o'clock.
These new Overseas timepieces from Vacheron Constantin are sports watches that nonetheless convey the spirit of high-end mechanical watchmaking and possess an elegant beauty. They are timepieces that only a maison with centuries of cultivated expertise and artistic prowess could create.
