A beauty that can only be described as "art."
The ISSEY MIYAKE WATCH project has seen participation from renowned designers both domestically and internationally, resulting in unique timepieces. Now, a novel model, like a glass object crafted by Tokujin Yoshioka—known for creating various three-dimensional forms with refined glass materials—has been introduced.
The thick watch crystal, meticulously carved one by one to create a beautiful luster, is made of inorganic glass with a hardened finish. The stainless steel case at the bottom features a 39mm diameter, suitable for any gender.
In contrast to the coolness of the glass material, the strap is made of calfskin, evoking a sense of warmth. Its natural texture is achieved through tanning and organic water-based dyeing.
Furthermore, the buckle that fastens the strap is a three-fold clasp, allowing the band to form a loop. This design facilitates easy attachment and removal while minimizing damage to the strap.
Encased within the transparent glass, the glass watch evokes a sense of stillness, as if time has stopped. When held, it catches the light, its brilliance transforming the timepiece into an expressive and original creation that reflects the surrounding scenery. Its beauty is truly akin to art.
