Capturing the Essence of Fleeting Time in a Watch
Kunihiko Morinaga, known for his avant-garde designs, fearlessly merges fashion and technology.
The "Rado True Shadow," which combines Morinaga's unique approach with Rado's classic "True" collection, imbues the watch with a forward-looking vision, much like his own multifaceted collections.
Its most striking feature is the dial's transformation with the passage of time. Under daylight, the "True Shadow" dial turns black, but as the sun sets, it gradually fades to a soft grey.
Eventually, it becomes transparent, revealing the pulsating movement within.
"My design philosophy is to make visible what was originally invisible," says Morinaga. "I expressed the essence of fleeting time through the watch's design, using a photochromic lens that changes color based on UV light."
In addition to Morinaga's "Rado True Shadow," Rado will release other unique limited editions in November, each featuring the "True" collection reimagined by five designers and architects with their own distinct visions.
