Released in Japan from July 6, 2017! (1)
2017 marks a significant milestone for the "007" series in three ways. It is the 50th anniversary of "You Only Live Twice," the 40th anniversary of "The Spy Who Loved Me," and the 20th anniversary of "Tomorrow Never Dies." In all three of these films, James Bond appears in his Royal Navy Commander's uniform. OMEGA has created the "Seamaster Diver 300 "Commander" Watch Limited Edition," inspired by Bond's distinguished rank of "Commander," and released it globally in a limited edition of 7007 pieces starting July 6th. Japan also began sales on the same day.

The "Commander" watch incorporates the Royal Navy's symbolic colors of white, blue, and red, creating an elegant and distinguished impression. The 41mm stainless steel case features a blue ceramic bezel with a Liquidmetal diving scale, and the first 15 minutes are accented with red rubber.
The polished white ceramic dial is adorned with blue indexes, skeleton hands, and a red "Seamaster" logo. The red central seconds hand features a "007" logo counterweight shaped like a pistol, and the date window displays only the number 7 in red, with other numbers in blue, incorporating distinctive 007 model details.
A NATO strap with a five-stripe pattern in blue, red, and grey adds a touch of fashion. A stainless steel bracelet with a "007" logo engraved on the buckle is also included, allowing for interchangeable wear according to preference.
The rotor, visible through the see-through case back, features a special design inspired by the Commander's insignia of three stripes and a bullet.
The screw-down case back, decorated with a wave pattern, is inscribed with the words "Commander’s Watch" and "Limited Edition," along with the limited edition number.

Why 007 Wears OMEGA
OMEGA has graced the wrist of James Bond since "GoldenEye" in 1995. Since then, the watch has been an indispensable companion for Bond in all his perilous adventures.
Lindy Hemming, the costume designer for "GoldenEye" (1995) through "Casino Royale" (2006), proposed that 007 should wear an OMEGA. Regarding her choice of the Seamaster, she stated, "I was convinced that Bond, as a naval commander, diver, and a discerning gentleman of the Royal Navy, would wear this watch. It was perhaps not the watch everyone expected."
She also added, "My father was in the Royal Air Force, but I had close ties with naval officers, and I remember one of them visiting our home often when I was young. He always wore an OMEGA, and I was fascinated by its very sporty design, which seemed almost exclusive to the Navy. The key is attention to detail. That's why, when creating the new image of Bond for Pierce Brosnan, I insisted on adopting OMEGA after extensive discussions about props and costumes from an early stage."
Hemming's decision to link OMEGA with the Royal Navy proved to be spot on. It was the "Seamaster 300" (from 1957) that was issued to divers in navies worldwide. In 1967, the second generation of the renowned "Seamaster 300" was also supplied to the British Ministry of Defence and issued to specific units.
Furthermore, in the early stages of World War II, the British Ministry of Defence determined the specifications for watches to be used by the British Army, Navy, and Air Force. In response, OMEGA supplied over 110,000 watches to the Ministry of Defence for pilots, navigators, and soldiers. This meant OMEGA supplied more than 50% of all Swiss watches delivered to Britain during the war, with other brands sharing the remaining 50%.
“Commander” Watch Launch Event Held in London
Ahead of the worldwide release, a launch event for the new "Commander" watch was held in London, a city closely associated with James Bond, on the evening of July 5th. Guests enjoyed a cruise on the River Thames, a frequent backdrop in the "007" series, before arriving at the venue, Tate Britain. There, OMEGA President & CEO, Raynald Aeschlimann, along with film producer Michael G. Wilson, who has been involved with the "007" series, unveiled the "Commander" watch and stated the following:
"James Bond is a character full of mystery. OMEGA has a long-standing connection with the British Navy, which he belonged to, and we wanted to pay tribute to his rank of Commander by creating this model."
To commemorate the unveiling of the new "Commander" watch, props and artwork used in previous "007" films were also exhibited at the venue. Attendees reflected on Bond as an MI6 spy and as a Royal Navy Commander, celebrating a milestone year for this film series that has been loved worldwide for over half a century since its debut in 1962.
