Sharp Designs Emphasizing Super Titanium™

In 2016, CITIZEN released a limited edition of its smartphone-linking "Eco-Drive Bluetooth" watch, powered by light. For 2017, this "Eco-Drive Bluetooth" series expands with two new models featuring Super Titanium™ for their cases.

Super Titanium™ is pure titanium treated with CITIZEN's proprietary Duratect surface hardening technology. This process yields a material over five times harder than stainless steel. It's gentle on the skin, resistant to rust, and highly durable, protecting the watch's inherent beauty from everyday scuffs and scratches.

The design, a product of CITIZEN's long-cultivated processing expertise, presents a sharp, edgy aesthetic. Most striking are the blue accents on the bezel and second hand, and the orange details on the sub-dial at 6 o'clock and the crown.


The blue evokes "Bluetooth," suggesting the integrated communication technology and lending a sleek image. The orange, meanwhile, signifies "guidance to functionality," indicating the crown's role in controlling features like the primary and secondary time zones, chronograph, and alarm.

This year, two models are offered: a calfskin strap (top right image), popular among those in their late twenties to early thirties, and a bracelet (top left image), favored by those in their late thirties to early forties, ensuring versatility for a wide range of styles.

Like the 2016 models, these watches feature Bluetooth connectivity, enabling automatic time adjustment and correction to 316 cities worldwide by linking with a smartphone. A notification function is also included, alerting the user to incoming calls, emails, and social media messages through needle movement, sound, or vibration.

The light-powered Eco-Drive system converts ambient light, from sunlight to indoor illumination, into electrical energy to power the watch. A full charge provides up to approximately four years of operation (when in power-save mode). There is no need for regular battery replacements or cable charging.

These timepieces achieve a harmonious balance between fashionability, suitable for both suits and casual wear, and the advanced functionality of "Eco-Drive Bluetooth." They are a standout item for 2017.
