Breitling's First Connected Chronograph is Here

A new challenge has begun for Breitling, known as a Swiss manufacturer of mechanical watches. While inheriting the brand's philosophy, they have developed the "EXOSPACE B55," their first connected chronograph that utilizes a smartphone to enhance the functionality and operability of a wristwatch.

The Ultimate Instrument for Pilots

Enhancing performance as an instrument for professionals—that is Breitling's brand philosophy. This conviction remains unchanged in the development of Breitling's first connected chronograph, the "EXOSPACE B55."

The EXOSPACE B55 is not a wristwatch developed as a smartphone peripheral; it is an instrument for professionals, with the watch as the protagonist. While retaining the spirit of a true professional instrument in the form of a chronograph, it achieves easier operation of chronograph functions through Bluetooth connectivity with a smartphone. The watch and smartphone complement each other, each demonstrating its capabilities in its respective strengths.

Smartphones offer advantages in operability through their large, easy-to-read displays and user interfaces. The EXOSPACE B55 dramatically improves efficiency by allowing all settings (time synchronization, time zones, alarms, display/operation parameters, night mode) to be controlled from a smartphone. Transferring chronograph measurement results (such as flight time, lap time measurements, split time measurements) also enables their use as data within smartphone applications. Through notification functions from the smartphone, you can also receive alerts on your watch for incoming emails, messages (SMS, WhatsApp), calls (displaying the caller's name and phone number), and upcoming appointments.

The aviation chronoflight function records the time from block off to block on (from when the aircraft's chocks are removed to when they are reinserted), along with takeoff-to-landing times. To easily manage these numerous functions, a simple and logical operating system is employed: the crown is used to select functions, and two push buttons turn them on or off. The highly legible dual LCD displays feature a backlight function, activated by a light press of the crown. The backlight can also be set to illuminate automatically when the wrist is tilted more than 35 degrees (tilt function), which is useful when holding the controls or steering wheel.

The Caliber B55, powered by a rechargeable battery system, is a COSC-certified chronometer boasting exceptional precision and reliability. It features a thermocompensated Superquartz movement that offers ten times the accuracy of standard movements. Displaying both analog and digital information, it is equipped with a wide range of innovative functions as the ultimate instrument for pilots.
