The Satellite Wave, Pioneer of Satellite-Synchronized Watches, Evolves

New GPS Watch Acquires Location Information

CITIZEN's "Satellite Wave," first introduced in 2011 as the world's first solar-powered radio-controlled watch to receive satellite signals, has undergone a significant evolution. While retaining its radio wave reception capability of as little as 3 seconds, it now acquires location information from GPS, further enhancing its accuracy. As a pioneer of watches connected to the universe, it has reached an overwhelming level of perfection.

CITIZEN's vast exhibition space was shrouded in white veils. In the past, under themes like "Frozen Time" and "Compressed Time," CITIZEN had artistically expressed the universe and time using watch movements. In 2015, "What exactly happened with CITIZEN?" drew the attention of many industry insiders.

The theme for CITIZEN's booth in 2015 was "Expansion Time." The concept was expressed by projecting "light and shadow" like a shadow play onto the white veils. Light from within the booth illuminated the suspended movements and the shadows of visitors on the veil, seemingly expressing the connection between people and time as it expands. Amidst this, the new Basel release was a more multifunctional GPS satellite radio-controlled watch, connected to the universe.

Reaching the Limit of Satellite Radio-Controlled Watch Potential

CITIZEN unveiled the "Eco-Drive Satellite Wave F900," a new limited edition model with a total worldwide production of 3,000 units. The "Eco-Drive Satellite Wave F100," released in 2014, garnered attention for its astonishing performance, completing time synchronization by receiving satellite signals in as little as 3 seconds. This new model retains that 3-second reception time while acquiring GPS location information in as little as 30 seconds, enabling time display based on the user's location.

This location acquisition enables a more accurate world time function. Combined with the newly developed "high-speed twin-coil motor," the hands can move forward and backward at ultra-high speeds, allowing for instantaneous switching of dual time displays and realizing exceptional convenience and usability. Furthermore, it can receive signals from the quasi-zenith satellite "Michibiki," further refining its reception capability regardless of location.

Equipped with a "Light Level Indicator" that displays the power generation amount from light, its completeness as an Eco-Drive model is also enhanced. With CITIZEN's proprietary surface coating technology applied to its materials, the Super Titanium achieves a Vickers hardness of 2400VC, offering outstanding reliability. It also achieves the world's thinnest profile for a solar-powered satellite radio-controlled watch at 13.1mm. The pioneer of satellite radio-controlled watches has reached a level of perfection that surpasses all others.
