The Essential Watch for Travel: World Time
Louis Vuitton's 2015 lineup is remarkably diverse, offering a wide array of men's and women's watches, from complicated pieces to entry-level models. The new collection of "Escale" watches, which garnered attention at last year's Baselworld, exemplifies this breadth.
This year, in addition to the existing world time function, Louis Vuitton presents a minute repeater model and an "Escale" priced under 900,000 yen. This aggressive strategy, aimed at expanding the appeal of Louis Vuitton watches to a wider audience, aligns with the establishment of their new workshop in Geneva, resulting in an ambitious lineup.
Experience the World's Time Through Sound
In 2014, the flagship model from the new Geneva workshop, "La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton," was the "Escale Worldtime." It captivated audiences with its richly colored dials, meticulously handcrafted, and its innovative world time function that displayed all information via discs.
This year, the collection is enhanced with the addition of a minute repeater, one of horology's ultimate complications. This mechanism chimes the current home time using gongs. It's a captivating feature that allows the wearer to enjoy their home time audibly while tracking local city times on the dial. This is a masterpiece that embodies Louis Vuitton's theme of "travel" and showcases their watchmaking prowess.

A Colorful World Time at an Accessible Price
The essence of the watch that captivated watch enthusiasts in 2014 is now available at an accessible price, a welcome development for those who found the previous model out of reach. This is also a recommended model for beginners in mechanical watches.
Compared to last year's Escale Worldtime, the new Escale Timezone features a dial with seven colors instead of 38, and the hand-painted artistry has been replaced with a stamped transfer technique. The dial's layered construction creates depth and a rich texture. The case is made of practical stainless steel, and it now displays local time with hands as a world timer.
It's hard to believe that such a high-quality world timer is available for under one million yen, representing exceptional value. This watch truly showcases Louis Vuitton's expertise as a watchmaker.

An Even More Active All-Black Specification Appears
The "Tambour" collection, symbolizing Louis Vuitton's travel theme, and its "Tambour Evolution" models, known for their urban sophistication, have garnered a strong following. Now, an all-black version joins the collection.
The dial is black, as is the case, which is coated using DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) processing for enhanced surface hardness. The calfskin strap also features a carbon fiber-like patterned decoration and is dyed black. The "V" logo is designed in white on the right side of the case, creating a striking contrast with the white indices and hands, resulting in a superb design.
Furthermore, the "Tambour Evolution" is further enhanced with functions such as a second time zone display and day/night indicator for home time, making it a compelling choice not only for fans but for anyone seeking a robust and stylish timepiece.
