A Thorough Pursuit of the Tonneau Case Form

A Special Model Appears in a Sporty Style

Franck Muller hosted its exclusive new product launch event, WPHH (The World Presentation of Haute Horlogerie), at Watchland in Genthod, overlooking Lake Geneva, on the outskirts of Geneva. The "Vanguard," introduced in 2014 with an emphasis on a sporty aesthetic, unveiled Japan-exclusive models and a tourbillon, adding flair to its full-scale launch in Japan. Additionally, for men, there was a limited reissue of the "Double Face Chronograph." For ladies, a lineup of new models, including the "Heart to Heart "Trésor" Color Dreams" introduced here, was presented.

Vanguard

Adorned with Red Inspired by the Rising Sun

The "Vanguard" is a new tonneau-shaped model introduced in 2014. The strap attachments are embedded on the caseback side, and the absence of lugs creates a curved beauty reminiscent of an egg shape. It's a dynamic design that further emphasizes the "barrel"-like form. The large, sharp indices also contribute to its sporty feel.

This model is a Japan-exclusive version of the "Vanguard." In recent years, Franck Muller has released Japan-exclusive models named "Rising Sun" featuring red accents. This model also adopts red for the indices and strap stitching, creating a strong contrast. This color scheme, befitting a Japan-exclusive, adds vibrancy to the full-scale launch of the "Vanguard" in Japan.

Vanguard Gravity

A Tourbillon Where the Carriage Appears to Float
Franck Muller is a pioneer who, in 1986, achieved the tourbillon in a wristwatch, spurring the revival of mechanical watchmaking. The brand has realized numerous advanced tourbillons and launched the new tourbillon trilogy in 2011.

This model is a masterpiece that incorporates the "Offset Tourbillon," one of the new trilogy, into the sharp and dynamic "Vanguard" case. The dial is placed off-center, and a large tourbillon mechanism is visible at 6 o'clock. The carriage is constructed with minimal parts, utilizing a planetary gear system, making the escapement appear to float in the opening. Combined with the sharp and powerful design of the "Vanguard," its appearance is novel, like gazing into a watch of the future.

Size | 53.7 x 44 mm
Thickness | 15.1 mm
Movement | Manual winding

Split-Seconds Double Face Chronograph

Franck Muller's Avant-Garde Early Work Reimagined
Franck Muller challenges novel watch functions, and the "Split-Seconds Double Face Chronograph," introduced in 1992, was one such ambitious timepiece.

It is a split-seconds chronograph capable of measuring lap times, with the time display shown on subdials, creating an extremely simple front face. Then, when you turn the watch over... the back also features hands that move in conjunction with the chronograph, displaying three scales: tachymeter, telemeter, and pulsimeter, allowing for all typical secondary chronograph measurements.

This legendary and popular early chronograph has been further evolved and is now available as a rare limited edition. It's a piece that enthusiasts and collectors alike will want to acquire.

Case | 18K pink gold
Diameter | 39 mm
Movement | Automatic winding
Functions | Chronograph (30-minute counter, split-seconds function. Tachymeter, telemeter, and pulsimeter scales on the back of the watch)
Strap | Crocodile
Water Resistance | Daily life
Limited Edition | 50 pieces

Heart to Heart "Trésor" Color Dreams

Sequentially Released Monthly from December 2014

Franck Muller's watches are captivating not only for their mechanics but also for their design. The unique "Viennese numerals" for the indices and the "Color Dreams" variation, where these numerals are painted in various colors, are a joy to behold. This new "Heart to Heart" model is equally delightful, simply by looking at the colors on its dial.

Releases are scheduled monthly starting in December. What's interesting is that the position of the heart mark changes each month: in March it's at the 3 o'clock position, in April at the 4 o'clock position, and so on. One might consider purchasing it in their birth month, or gifting it to a loved one in a month significant to them. Furthermore, the dial features hidden Viennese numerals, adding many enjoyable elements to this watch.

Case | Stainless steel
Size | 31 x 26 mm
Movement | Quartz
Strap | Stainless steel
Water Resistance | Daily life
Release | Available now (sequentially released from December 2014 with changing heart positions)
