Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum World Timer

Montblanc, a brand known for its writing instruments, celebrated the 90th anniversary of its masterpiece, the "Meisterstück," last year, releasing numerous limited and commemorative editions. In 2015, Montblanc introduced a wristwatch that inherits the spirit of this "Meisterstück" collection. It is a world timer that allows you to see the time in various countries at a glance.

Inheriting the Spirit of "Meisterstück"

Simple yet modern... these two words succinctly describe the style of the "Meisterstück," a masterpiece fountain pen that Montblanc has been producing since 1924. To pay tribute to the "Meisterstück" on its 90th anniversary, Montblanc launched a collection of watches named "Meisterstück Heritage" in 2014. Their concise, retro-chic functionality and design were met with great acclaim.

In 2015, a new collection emerges that newly inherits the spirit of the "Meisterstück Heritage." This is the "Heritage Spirit," and its first model announced is the world timer "Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum."

A world timer is a mechanism that displays the current time in 24 time zones simultaneously. It features a ring listing the names of cities representing each time zone on the outer circumference of the dial, and a 24-hour ring to indicate the time in each zone. This 24-hour ring rotates in conjunction with the time, showing the current time for each time zone. In addition to these basic functions, the "Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum" features a map of the Northern Hemisphere as seen from the North Pole at the center of the dial, clearly illustrating the positional relationships of the cities and serving as a distinctive design element.

Furthermore, through a special "translucent structure" ingeniously developed by Montblanc's technical team, the colors of regions experiencing night gradually change to darker hues as time passes. At a single glance, one can grasp the day and night conditions across the globe, enhancing the practicality of the world timer and highlighting the watch's unique character.

Moreover, classic design elements such as the bombé dial, which curves inward towards the edge, evoke the modern era of the first half of the 20th century, the golden age of wristwatches and the "Meisterstück."

The inclusion of such an innovative watch as the first piece in the collection conveys Montblanc's enthusiasm for the new collection. We eagerly anticipate further new models following this watch at SIHH, which begins on January 19th.
